Best TV Moms: Dono & Patty’s Top 10 Choices

In: Donovan, Patrick, TV Shows

In honor of Mother’s Day, I decided to rotate this post originally published a few years ago. Donovan and myself ranked our favorite all-time television moms. Let’s face it: at one point growing up, we’ve watched a few sitcoms and thought it’d be cool to have one of those TV moms as our own, especially when we were fighting with our real ones ;)

Patrick

10. Sandy Hogan (Sandy Duncan) The Hogan Family (1986-1991)

Played by Sandy Duncan, she was the aunt that came in to effectively become the surrogate mom of the family after their mother, Valerie Harper, was killed off in the second season. She had a lot to deal with playing the role of the “mother” and it was a very interesting concept for that time, since it was not the conventional perfect family. Oh, do you remember that Jason Bateman was in this show? Here’s a link to the show’s intro to refresh your memory.

Donovan

10. Elyse Keaton (Meredith Baxter) Family Ties (1982-1989)

There are three different reasons why Elyse Keaton made the list.

  • 1. She was an architect which I thought was the coolest job growing up.
  • 2. The theme song “Without Us” was brilliant.
  • 3. I totally wanted to be related to Alex P. Keaton (Michael J. Fox).

In honor of Mother’s Day, some of the Homorazzi cast (past and present) decided to proclaim their love to their respective mothers on the website. We hope you enjoy this post which was originally published when the site first launched.

mom-dan

I love my Mom, and just recently we’ve developed a relationship of being less Mother/Son and more friends who can share a good laugh and story over a drink or two. While growing up, I never thought that I would come to a place where I actually WANTED to hang out with my parents, but that day came knocking on my door a few years back after I invited them to my 23rd birthday party and they actually showed!

It dawned on my that my Mom is a pretty rad woman who cares a lot about her family and who’s sole goal in life is to make sure her children and grandchildren have everything in the world they could possibly want, even before her own needs. For this, I take my hat off to her, and say I love you with all my heart.

She hasn’t had the easiest life, but I would like to think that the few beers we shared in sun are well remembered and will keep her smiling!

Thanks for everything Momma, I love you!

- Daniel

For this week’s Sports Stud, we’ve got the handsome Adam Scott as our feature athlete. No, no… not Adam Scott from NBC’s Parks & Recreation – the Adam Scott from Australia that is a professional golfer and natural born surfer.

It’s an exciting time for Adam Scott right now. Not only is he one of the number one golfers in the world right now, but on April 17, Scott married his longtime girlfriend Marie Kojzar in a small ceremony in the Bahamas, as reported by the Australian Associated Press on Friday. In terms of golf, the 33-year old’s biggest win to date was the 2013 Masters Tournament, his first major championship and the first Masters won by an Australian in its 77-year history.

Check out his pictures below and congratulations to the happy couple!

Sports Stud: Russell Teibert

For this week’s Sports Stud, I’ve decided to choose a player from my home team MLS soccer team, the Vancouver Whitecaps. From this same team, I have previously featured the captain Jay DeMerit as well as Left Defender, Jordan Harvey as Sports Studs. This week it’s going to be one of the younger members of the team – Russell Teibert.

Teibert, originally from Niagara Falls, Ontario, had a brief spell with Toronto FC’s academy, before joining the Vancouver Whitecaps Residency program back in 2008. After the 2010 season, he was called in to join the senior team. The club moved to Major League Soccer for the 2011 season and Teibert was signed on.

Aside from his good looks and playing ability, one of the other reasons he came to mind for a feature is because lately I’ve been getting compared to him because when I play soccer or am at CrossFit, I have been putting my hair into a tie, sort of a samurai/top knot type deal. So people have been saying “your hair is like Teibert’s hair.” Anyway, check out his pictures and a video of him getting his hair styled (a previous look he had) at the barber below.

For this week’s Sports Stud, we’re featuring sexy Major League Baseball player, Giancarlo Stanton. He plays as an outfielder for the Miami Marlins and prior to the 2012 season, he was known as “Mike” Stanton. Last year, Stanton was featured in ESPN’s annual “Bodies We Want” issue and in case you missed his stunning photos, I’ve included them below.

Stanton is off to a stellar start this season. Yesterday (April 18) the 24-year old hit a walk-off grand slam home run against the Seattle Mariners. At this point, he’s now on pace for 57 home runs this season.

Check out his photos as well as a behind the scenes video from last year’s ESPN shoot below. Enjoy!

For this weeks Sports Stud we’ve got the sexy Dwyane Wade from the the NBA’s Miami Heat basketball team. Last year, Wade won his third NBA championship in 2013, when the Heat defeated the San Antonio Spurs in the 2013 NBA Finals. Wade plays the shooting guard position, but is also capable of playing point guard. The 32-year-old is also well known for converting difficult layups into points after collisions with opponents.

Not only does he stand out on the court, but he also stands out with his style and good looks. Wade has been featured in several magazines including GQ, Men’s Health, Vogue, Vman, Esquire, and many more. He’s incredibly handsome and has abs for days.

Check out his photos below.

Sports Stud: Mitchell Johnson

This week’s Sports Stud is an Australian cricket player named Mitchell Johnson. He is a left-arm fast bowler and left-handed batsman. Back in 2009, he was awarded the International Cricket Council’s “Cricketer of the Year” award, the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy.

The combination of sexy tattoos, a great body, and a handsome face made Johnson a great candidate for some underwear modelling (Jockey, Under Armour), as you’ll see in the pictures below. Not to mention a great booty. The 32-year old is married to former model and karate black belt Jessica Bratich Johnson and they share a daughter together.

Check out the pictures below!
