Listen To Jason Derulo’s New Album In Its Entirety

In: Donovan, Music

Jason Derulo drops his new album, Talk Dirty, today. Technically, it’s just a reissue of his last offering Tattoos- a five-track EP. Released seven months after the original, Derulo collaborated with producers including Timbaland and The Cataracs to create brand new material to be released specifically for the U.S. version of the album.

Naturally his Top 10 hit, “Talk Dirty,” is included. I really didn’t want to like the 2 Chainz-assisted single but it grew on me massively. I’m not alone. It’s practically inescapable, playing on radio, television shows, sports arenas and even at a financial institution I did some banking recently. After quickly checking out Talk Dirty, I have a feeling some of his other tracks will do the same. Give his entire album a listen below.

David Cronenberg clearly took a liking to Robert Pattinson filming Cosmopolis. The Canadian director once again teams up with the Twilight stud for his latest flick, Maps To The Stars. It marks the first time Cronenberg has shot a movie in the United States.

The satire drama film features the 27-year-old shacking up with Julianne Moore in the back of a limo. Pattinson isn’t the only one Moore hooks up with. The redhead gets around, finding herself in intimate moments with other men and women. Rounding out the cast are John Cusack, Mia Wasikowska, Olivia Williams, Sarah Gadon, and Evan Bird. Check out the trailer below.

Synopsis

The Weiss family is the archetypal Entertainment Industry dynasty: Sanford (John Cusack), the father is a celebrity therapist and best-selling author; Cristina (Olivia Williams), his wife, manages the career of their thirteen year-old son, Benjie (Evan Bird), a TV star. One of Sanford’s clients, Havana (Julianne Moore), is an actress who dreams of remaking the film that made her mother, Clarice (Sarah Gadon), a movie star. But her mother, now dead, has come back to haunt her dreams. Benjie emerges from rehab as his elder sister, Agatha (Mia Wasikowska), is released from a stint in a psychiatric hospital where she has been serving time for arson. Ghosts, death, and all manner of vices collide as the family reunites. Maps to the Stars is a darkly satiric drama about celebrity obsession.

Alicia Keys Debuts Amazing Spider-Man 2 Music Video

At first listen, I thought “It’s On Again” was a delightful neo-soul retro-tinged track. I was expecting to love it more after numerous listens. Surprisingly, it hasn’t. In fact, I’d the say the opposite is occurring. Given the talent behind “It’s On Again,” I thought for sure it’d be my next obsession. Perhaps expectations were too high. At least the accompanying visual is an entertaining watch.

Alicia Keys is joined by Kendrick Lamar and Pharrell Williams. Lamar kicks things off rapping his verses into a walkie talkie while Pharrell, who produced the track, oversees all the action in a control room. Since he’s practically running things lately, it’s fitting Williams is where he is. It finishes with all three meeting up on the street with the video director and an orchestra. Random. Naturally, footage from the Amazing Spider-Man 2 are spliced in. Check out the visual below.

Robyn set gays in a frenzy last week when she announced a joint tour with Röyksopp. I’m so bummed that I’ll be out of town when they hit my neck of the woods.

To support their road trip, they’re releasing a mini-album titled Do It Again. The compilation will feature five tracks and will hit stores on May 26. The trio previewed a snippet of the EP’s 10-minute opening number, “Monument.” Give it a listen below, along with the tour announcement just in case you missed it last week.

“I’ve been going back and forth to Bergen to record and write with the Röyksopp boys up until recently,” Robyn said in a statement. “It started to feel more like a band thing than songs for a Röyksopp or Robyn album so we’re releasing this music together as a band you could say.” She adds “This doesn’t sound like Röyksopp featuring Robyn or Robyn produced by Röyksopp, it’s just something else entirely.”

broadway-bares-2014-rock-hard

For the 24th annual Broadway Bares extravaganza, organizers decided to go with a rocker theme. Over 150 of New York’s most talented (and hottest) Broadway performers will channel rock icons and pay tribute to 60 years of rock ‘n roll. Once again, proceeds will benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The event was created by Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots).

Broadway Bares combines the naughtiness of burlesque with the razzle-dazzle of Broadway and has been a smashing success since its inception in 1992. The event, featuring the hottest male and female dancers on Broadway, has become one of BC/EFA’s signature events. The first Broadway Bares featured just seven dancers performing choreographed stripteases on a bar and raised more than $8,000. Through 23 editions, Broadway Bares has raised more than $11.3 million for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Broadway Bares: Rock Hard! arrives Sunday, June 22 at its new home at Hammerstein Ballroom with two performances only at 9:30 PM & Midnight. Special guests for the evening will be announced at a later date. This year’s edition will be directed by Nick Kenkel (Catch Me If You Can, Peepshow, Legally Blonde), who also directed Broadway Bares 23. Check out the naughty video promo announcing this year’s theme below.

“Every day was an adventure to be tackled and he wanted to make a difference in this world… he never asked for credit or glory. He was just a really good guy,” Jordana Brewster said as part of a touching tribute for her deceased Fast and the Furious co-star.

Brewster wasn’t the only one to offer up emotional memories of Paul Walker. Vin Diesel also shared his fond memories of his friend in a voiceover during a video montage of Paul’s film career. Check out the short and sweet clip which aired at the 2014 MTV Movie Awards below.

finnish-gay-stamp

The United States Postal Service release their Harvey Milk commemorative stamps next month. However, their Finnish counterparts have outdone them with their decision to honor one of the most influential gay artists in history. Pretty progressive for a country where same-sex marriage is still illegal.

Touko Laaksonen better known as Tom of Finland remains a towering and iconic figure in the gay art scene with his unapologetic depictions of gay sex. With over 3,500 illustrations to his credit, choosing which ones to highlight proved a daunting task. Graphic illustrator Timo Berry was tapped to select the artwork to be printed on the stamps released this Fall.

“The sheet portrays a sensual life force and being proud of oneself. There is never too much of that in this northern country,” says Timo Berry.

The release of the stamps will coincide with an exhibition of Laaksonen’s work at Finland’s Postal Museum. The above picture is one of three featured on a miniature sheet which contains three 1st class self-adhesive stamps. Check out the slightly NSFW sheet below.

Jennifer Hudson Walks It Out On New Timbaland Track

In: Donovan, Music

Sissy that walk J-Hud. The Dreamgirls actress slays it with her new slammin’ slow jam. Don’t mess with this leaner and sassier version.

Walk It Out” comes from prolific producer Timbaland and features lyrics by Lyrica Anderson. The track is the official follow up to her infectious “I Can’t Describe (The Way I Feel)” off her upcoming third studio album. It’s an interesting decision to slow things down as the lucrative summer season is just around the corner, but I like it. I’m always down for a slinky sensual jam. Give it a listen below.
