As what’s come to be expected during her 1000 Forms Of Fear era, Sia has once again decided to not face the audience to perform “Chandelier.” I hope this phase ends soon. As much as I enjoy watching Lena Dunham and Maddie Ziegler execute angst-y choreography, I’d like to see Sia’s face for a change.

Speaking of killer contemporary dance moves, Allison Holker absolutely slays the routine during Sia’s performance. She joins music video standout Ziegler in an epic dance.

I’m so glad Dancing With The Stars hired Holker as one of the pros. She’s by far my favorite part of this season. Fingers crossed, she does well her freshman cycle. Check out Sia, Allison and Maddie kill “Chandelier’ below.

Jessie J Shares Album Teaser For ‘Sweet Talker’

In: Donovan, Music

Jessie J isn’t taking any chances with her third studio album. She’s pulling out all the stops to ensure Sweet Talker isn’t a bomb like her previous LP. I don’t blame her.

The 26-year-old Brit has enlisted a seasoned group of producers, with stellar streaks for creating hit tracks. Diplo, The Dream, Pharrell Williams and Max Martin are just a few who worked with Jessie J. Additional collaborations from De La Soul and Sevyn Streeter are also in the mix. Check out 90 second teasers of each song from Sweet Talker below.

Saturday Night Live kicks off Season 40 this weekend. Chris Pratt captains the ship with Ariana Grande as the musical guest. It’s the first time Pratt, and I predict not the last, he’ll be hosting the long-running program.

With Guardians Of The Galaxy being such a big blockbuster this summer, naturally the promos featuring Kate McKinnon reference the smash film. Watch McKinnon rub up on Pratt’s ‘Star-Lord,’ ask who Anna Faris is and more amusing moments below.

Who’d You Rather: Dallas Edition

In: Donovan, Totally GAY!, TV Shows
dallas-cast-hot-guys

Dallas ended its third season this week and HOLY EFFIN SHOCKING SEASON FINALE!!! I won’t spoil it for those of you who haven’t checked it out yet. In honor of the game-changing event, I thought I’d pit the show’s two leading men up against each other in our latest Who’d You Rather poll.

Jesse Metcalfe’s first notable role was starring in the NBC soap opera, Passions. But by far, his breakthrough part was playing the sexy young gardener on Desperate Housewives. He parlayed that notoriety to a feature film role in the high school comedy, John Tucker Must Die. The 35-year-old also starred in the short-lived NBC drama Chase.

I first noticed Josh Henderson when he scored a spot in the pop group Scene 23 on the show Popstars 2. The 32-year-old then resurfaced as Ashlee Simpson’s then boyfriend on her MTV Reality show. He soon transitioned to acting, guest starring in shows like 8 Simple Rules… for Dating My Teenage Daughter, 90210 and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Coincidentally enough, he also appeared on Desperate Housewives, as the resident young hottie on that season. Check out both dudes below and weigh in which one you’d rather afterward.

On December 2nd, Mary J. Blige releases her thirteenth studio album titled The London Session. The 43-year-old R&B singer traveled across the pond to collaborate with this decade’s most celebrated UK musical talent – including Disclosure, Eg White, Emile Sandé, Jimmy Napes, Naughty Boy, SAM ROMANS and Sam Smith.

“It’s all about the London Music scene and I’m so excited to have been part of it, to record my album,” says Blige. “The songs are fun, therapeutic and soulful. This is a beautiful change for me and I’m proud of what we have done here.”

The lead single, “Therapy,” co-written by Smith has been officially released. The slow-tempo offering sees Blige go more the bluesier route. It borrows from Doo-wop with its simple beat, minimal instrumentation and backing harmonies, as it glides along Blige’s signature soulful voice.

Another track “Whole Damn Year” has also leaked. The powerful R&B ballad finds Mary serving a little Emeli Sandé realness. Not surprising given that Sandé co-wrote this song with Naughty Boy co-producing it with Rodney Jerkins. The latter produced the entire album. Give both tracks a listen below and watch a trailer for The London Sessions as well.

fall-2014-ratings-gotham

Arguably the most-hyped show coming into this new season has to be Gotham. FOX’s Batman prequel didn’t disappoint in terms of ratings. It notched 8 million viewers and a 3.2 rating among the coveted 18-49 demo. Definitely solid given it was against two back-to-back episodes of The Big Bang Theory. Only time will tell if the show can maintain or build upon its series premiere numbers.

Also debuting well was Scorpion over at CBS. It generated 14 million viewers and a 3.3 rating. No doubt aided greatly by it’s cushy lead-in- The Big Bang Theory double header. I don’t typically watch shows on the eye network, but this one has me intrigued. I can’t wait to check it out when I get back from my Hawaiian vacay.

Unfortunately for ABC, the winning streak for freshman shows ended with Forever. The show did alright with 8.3 million viewers but only managed to snag 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demo. That number represents a 32 percent decrease from Castle which occupied the post-Dancing With The Stars slot last season. Don’t expect a long life for this immortality drama.

Jessie J. Debuts New Track ‘Burnin Up’

In: Donovan, Music
jessie-j-burnin-up

Jessie J suffered the dreaded sophomore slump, but quickly rebounded with “Bang Bang.” Question is, can she keep the momentum going without Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj’s assistance? Hopefully, she has something else in her arsenal, because this one doesn’t scream smash hit.

Despite featuring production by Max Martin and a rap interlude by 2 Chainz, “Burnin’ Up” never lives up to its title. In fact, it barely generates any heat and fails to ignite. Perhaps, it’s a slow burn and I’ll sing its praises in a couple of weeks, but at the moment, it’s just ‘meh.’

Jessie J.’s third album, Sweet Talker, hits stores October 13 in the U.S. Give her latest a listen below.
