Food trucks are all the rage these days. Naturally Jon Favreau, the man who gave us Swingers, taps into this trend for his latest directorial effort, Chef. The film premiered at SWSW last month.

In addition to Favreau, it boasts a star-studded cast which includes Dustin Hoffman, Scarlett Johansson, Sofia Vergara, John Leguizamo and Robert Downey, Jr. Chef hits theaters on May 9. Check out the trailer below. Warning, the food might make you hungry. It did for me.

Synopsis

Chef Carl Casper (Jon Favreau) suddenly quits his job at a prominent Los Angeles restaurant after refusing to compromise his creative integrity for its controlling owner (Dustin Hoffman), he is left to figure out what’s next. Finding himself in Miami, he teams up with his ex-wife (Sofia Vergara), his friend (John Leguizamo) and his son to launch a food truck. Taking to the road, Chef Carl goes back to his roots to reignite his passion for the kitchen — and zest for life and love.

Rising Artist Spotlight: The Vamps

In: Donovan, Music
the-vamps

At first glance they look like another One Direction ripoff. To be fair, it’s kinda true. After all, they are a boy band from the United Kingdom. However, if I were to compare them to another boy band, I would say they’re a mix of Hanson and McFly.

“Being compared to One Direction is no bad thing but we are a completely different band.” – Brad Simpson

Simpson, James McVey, Connor Ball and Tristan Evans, better known as The Vamps, have scored a couple of hits in their native country. With their latest, “Move My Way,” they’re primed to crossover to North America. It’s by far my favorite among the singles they’ve released. It’s thoroughly pop but with a folk sensibility, like most things these days. Give it a spin below, along with their previous music videos.

Imagine if Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and the rest of your favorite pop stars attended the same high school. Well, in Todrick Hall’s insanely creative mind, they did. He’s outdone himself with his new series Pop Star High.

Lady Gaga (Sideara St. Claire) is the gifted creative social outcast tormented by the school’s mean girls- Britney (Jayleen Griffin), Nicki Minaj (Kendra Hill) and Christina Aguilera (Lauren Berry). Thankfully, Stefani Germanotta finds kindness from other students- Taylor Swift (Erin Solomon) and Beyonce (Asia’h Epperson). Her luck turns around (or she thinks) when the hottest boy in school, Justin Timberlake (Michael Rexford), asks her out. Hall himself joins the action as Ne-Yo. Check out all the musical drama below.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past: 25 Key Historic Moments

x-men-days-history-lesson

Before X-Men: Days of Future Past hits theaters on May 23, here’s a little assignment in the form of a fun interactive widget. No one likes homework, especially history but these are fun little lessons. I promise.

In an effort to bridge the gap from when X-Men First Class took place in 1962 to the dystopian world where the new film transpires, FOX shares 25 key historical events in the struggle between mutants and humans that led to the state of affairs in 2018.

Warning, there are some slightly spoilerish items about some of the characters. For instance how Colossus came to be. Let’s just say it involves a real-life nuclear disaster. Proceed with caution.

Gladiators are fully aware the roller coaster ride Shonda Rimes takes us on with each episode. Sometimes some of the OMFG twist and turns on Scandal are just too much. It could easily pass for one of those telenovelas. Jimmy Kimmel also thinks so.

The late night host enlisted the entire Scandal cast to film a hilarious spoof titled Escandalo. Kimmel aired the fourth and final episode of his parody last night. Kerry Washington’s exaggerated acting is spot-on. Check out the entire series below.

Jeremy Irvine Cast In Stonewall Movie

In: Donovan, Movies, Totally GAY!
jeremy-irvine

The Stonewall Riots that took place on June 28, 1969 in New York are arguably one of the most important moments in LGBT history. Roland Emmerich who gave the world Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow and 2012 is recreating those historic moments for an upcoming film aptly titled Stonewall. Emmerich might seem like an odd choice, but it’s a passion project for the openly-gay director. The film just signed its first actor.

Jeremy Irvine who starred in Steven Spielberg’s War Horse has been tapped to star in Stonewall. In his relatively short career, the 23-year-old English actor has built up quite an impressive resume. He’s appeared in Great Expectations with Helena Bonham Carter, The Railway Man co-starring Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman and The Reach with Michael Douglas.

Emmerich will start production on Stonewall while he continues prepping Independence Day Forever, which has a July 1, 2016 release date. Yup, there is a follow up to the 1996 Will Smith film. Check out more pics of Jeremy below.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West haters and fashionista snobs brace yourselves. I have some bad news for you. Anna Wintour’s controversial decision to put the ubiquitous duo on the cover didn’t bomb. I guess that’s why Wintour runs things over at the Conde Nast publication. She’s an evil genius ;)

Not only did it not bomb but it sold very well. In fact, it outsold previous best-sellers featuring Beyonce and Michelle Obama in March 2013 and April 2014 respectively. Should we prep ourselves for more Kimmy K Vogue covers in the near future. I hope not. Weigh in below.
