The Sound of Music tribute at the 87th Academy Awards was a much-needed boost of adrenaline in an otherwise boring telecast. Lady Gaga was universally praised for it. Julie Andrews raved about Mother Monster’s rendition of the iconic songs and even gave her a heartwarming hug on stage.
One person who had a massively different take on the performance was Shonda Rhimes. The prolific television producer, responsible for so many OMG moments on ABC Thursday night, slammed the performance. She typically exhibits excellent taste when it comes to selecting songs featured on her shows. Perhaps she stole one too many of Olivia Pope’s gigantic glasses of wine.
“That was not okay. I mean, Idina is there. She is right there. RIGHT THERE. And oh dear God, Julie had to hear that. #Oscars2015.” – Shonda Rhimes via Twitter
When fans disagreed with her sentiment, Rhimes replied, “I probably did miss the point. Everyone else loved it. That’s okay.”
While I love Idina Menzel, I’m glad producers chose Lady Gaga. She slayed it. Gaga’s charming performance was powerfully restrained and included just the right amount theatricality. She stole the show in my opinion. Sometimes her outrageous antics take away focus from how gifted a vocalist she truly is. Relive the most memorable moment at the 2015 Oscars below.
Bryan Singer is wise and has good taste. He knows not to pass on a good thing when he sees it.
Ben Hardy initially auditioned to play a young Cyclops in X-Men: Apocalypse but lost out the role to Tye Sheridan. Singer was so impressed with him, he cast the 24-year-old actor in another role. No word on exactly what key role he’ll play, but speculation is that it might Angel. Hardy is best known for his work in the BBC soap, EastEnders.
Ben joins fellow newbies Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey) and Sheridan (Cyclops) in the superhero franchise. They’ll be welcomed by a returning star-studded cast including James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and Evan Peters.
Get to know this sexy little twunk in several shirtless photos below. X-Men: Apocalypse is scheduled to hit theaters on May 27, 2016.
At long last, Lauren Conrad can finally have piece of mind. I’m sure she’s spent countless nights hoping her former BFF would forgive her. NOT!!!
The 28-year-old reality star is currently on Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars. During an emotional exercise, Heidi ‘forgives’ LC for ‘ruining’ her life. It’s good to see that Heidi Montag is as cray as ever.
“I was the best friend you’ve ever had,” Montag tells a Conrad stand-in, adding, “Lauren, I forgive you for being so insecure in your life and so frustrated for everything that you went through that you felt like you had to blame it on me because that was easier. I forgive you for trying to ruin my life.”
I don’t know what show she was watching, but if memory serves me correct, it was the other way around. Heidi’s husband, Spencer Pratt, also has some bottled up issues regarding their former show. He unleashes his anger about a former television producer who tried to ‘destroy’ his life and marriage.
This post probably only appeals to diehard fans of The Hills, like myself. Ashamedly, I was obsessed with the MTV reality show. I couldn’t get enough of Audriana’s ceiling eyes, Lauren’s braids, Brody’s hotness, Whitney’s expressions and Jen Bunney. Being totally sarcastic on that last one :)
Watch both Heidi and Spencer confront their personal demons below. Will this finally be the closure they both need? I highly doubt it.
Kelly Clarkson drops her seventh studio album next week. After the underwhelming lead cut, “Heartbeat Song,” I was a little worried for my girl. Thankfully, the sensational Sia-penned “Invincible” which premiered yesterday erased any doubts. The 32-year-old singer released another gem today.
“Piece By Piece” tells the story of a father abandoning his family. When the girl grows up, her faith in men is restored when she meets and falls in love with her soulmate. The drum-based mid-tempo track is the title track of Kelly’s forthcoming LP.
A total of five new songs will be released this working week via iTunes. I can’t wait to hear what else Clarkson has in store for us. Check out “Piece By Piece” below.
Anyone super excited for Summer? I am and not only for the hot weather but for Big Brother as well. The reality show is such an addicting guilty pleasure, especially the live feeds. Hopefully, the casting department does an equally excellent job picking eye candy like Cody Calafiore. Both Caleb ‘Beast Mode Cowboy‘ Reynolds and he made for a very memorable Season 16.
Calafiore currently graces the March/April 2015 cover of Winq magazine. Photographer Greg Vaughan snaps the 24-year-old stud in Calvin Klein and Bjorn Borg underwear inspired by the New York City skyline. Anyone else want to climb the New Jersey hottie’s ‘Empire State Building’ ;) Check out more pics below.
Any comedian worth his salt doesn’t need a target to deliver a successful hit aimed at Justin Bieber. The 20-year-old singer has plenty of ridiculous antics to choose from to poke fun at.
In a new promo for his roast, the Biebs grimaces while a tattoo artist inks a huge bullseye on his back. This follows on the heels of another clip where Justin is egged mercilessly.
Gotta give the kid credit for playing along and promoting the sh*t out for his Comedy Central special. I can’t wait to see what hilarious digs the talented jokesters come up with.
Comedy Central Roast of Justin Bieber hosted by Kevin Hart airs on Monday, March 30 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Check out the clip below.
Both Rihanna and Jennifer Lopez provide voices for DreamWorks’ upcoming animated film, Home. RiRi plays a teenage girl named Tip while J. Lo taps into her maternal side to play her mother.
I wonder how the 45-year-old American Idol judge feels about that. To be fair, Lopez could pass more as her sister. Lopez has definitely found the fountain of youth and isn’t sharing her secrets.
RiRi forgoes the acoustic vibe of “FourFiveSeconds” and opts instead for a tribal beat for “Towards The Sun.” The track is somewhat reminiscent of her Coldplay collaboration, “Princess of China.” Meanwhile, Jenny from the Block goes the ethereal route with breathy vocals on the ballad “Feel The Light.”
Others featured on the film soundtrack include Kiesza and Charli XCX. Home hits theaters on March 27. Check out “Towards The Sun” and “Find The Light” below and weigh in afterwards.
Ed Sheeran isn’t typically the kind of guy I find hot but I have this huge crush on the 24-year-old singer-songwriter. He’s just so God dang adorable. This latest performance only ups the ante.
The UK crooner dropped by BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge to take on the Christina Aguilera classic, “Dirrty.” Sheeran transforms the gritty pop track into a laidback acoustic gem. Dude does double duty and also drops Redman’s sick rhymes. Is there anything this ging can’t do?
Watch Ed channel his inner naughty side below. An Aguilera and Sheeran duet needs to happen for real. 100 percent.
