Are book deals the new record deals? Apparently so with regards to the Glee cast. When the FOX show became a breakout hit, I fully expected to be inundated with individual albums from most of the cast. Not so much. With only a couple of exceptions like Matthew Morrison and Mark Saling, the cast haven’t delved into the record industry independently from the show.
On the literary front, Chris Colfer published a best-selling fantasy novel with another one on the way. Jenna Ushkowitz just released her first novel Choosing Glee earlier this month. Jane Lynch has also penned her own book, Happy Accidents. Find out the latest Glee cast member to become a published author below.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s directorial debut film premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. Then titled Don Jon’s Addiction, the film has been renamed to simply Don Jon. The film was acquired by Relativity Media at a cost of $4 million and is set to hit theaters on October 18, 2013 in limited release. Not only does Gordon-Levitt direct and star in it, he also wrote it. Talk about a triple threat. The breakout festival hit has finally released its first trailer and it’s a good one.
Gordon-Levitt plays a New Jersey man named Joe Martello aka Don Jon. He’s very passionate about several things as revealed in a voiceover: “There’s only a few things I really care about in life: My body, my pad, my ride, my family, my church, my boys, my girls and my porn.” His porn addiction becomes an issue when his new girlfriend played by Scarlett Johansson discovers his problem. As his defense, Don Jon likens his adoration for erotic flicks to his girlfriend’s obsession with romantic comedies. Speaking of which, there’s this movie within a movie starring Channing Tatum and Anne Hathaway that’s sure to provide some laughs. Check out the trailer below.
Call me vanilla, but I’d don’t get the whole golden shower fetish thing. To each their own though. With that in mind, you can only imagine my reaction to watching Ke$ha’s latest antic on her MTV reality show, Ke$ha: My Crazy Beautiful Life. Beautiful, not so much. Crazy, hellz yeah.
The 26-year-old pees in a bottle while riding in a vehicle. She then proceeds to offer her fellow passengers a whiff. Ummm, thanks but no thanks. Judging by her reaction, it’s a safe bet drinking her own urine won’t become a regular habit despite hearing “it was good for you.” I can only imagine how gnarly her pee tastes like. Watch the whole stunt go down below.
If Desperate Housewives was still kicking around, this could be mistaken as a promo for the ABC show. The Saturdays could easily move into Wisteria Lane without skipping a beat. Even doing homely duties like garden chores and laundry, the British girl group are as glamorous as ever.
Once again, one of the ladies had to hid their baby bump for the video shoot. For “30 Days,” Una Healy was with child, this time it was Rochelle Humes‘ turn. Since filming, Rochelle has given birth to her baby girl Alaia-Mai.
Fans have been divided with “Gentleman.” It’s a different sound not previously done by the group. Personally, it’s grown on me, especially the celebrity name dropping rapping portion. Truth be told, the girls could drop anything and I’d love it. That’s how much I adore these ladies. Check out their latest clip below.
Star Trek Into Darkness director J.J. Abrams has been receiving a bit of flack for his seemingly gratuitous scene of actress Alice Eve in her underwear in the film. The 46-year-old understands the criticism he’s been receiving and takes responsibility saying he “didn’t quite edit the scene in the right way.”
During a stop on Conan, Abrams proves the charges of sexism are unwarranted. He’s an equal opportunity exploiter. J.J. brought along a deleted scene from the film to share. It shows Khan (Benedict Cumberbatch) showering. A “shower of evil” as Abrams jokes. Dayum. It’s short and sweet, but extremely sexy. It’s even hotter when Conan changes the background music.
The full scene better be part of the DVD/Blu-Ray extras. He can’t tease us like that without giving up all the goods. Check out his interview with Conan below. The good parts begin at the 1:30 mark. Enjoy.
The cast and creators of Friends have long maintained that a reunion will never happen. Never say never as the saying goes. Slowly we’re inching ever so close to that Friends reunion.
We’ve seen a combination of pairings of the former Friends on various shows. Courteney Cox appeared on Matthew Perry’s now-canceled Go On. Both Jennifer Aniston and Cox appeared together on Cougar Town and Dirt. Lisa Kudrow reunited with Matt Leblanc on Web Therapy and also popped up on Cougar Town. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe this is the first time we’ve had three of them appear together since the NBC show went off the air.
Aniston called Cox and Perry to help promote her co-hosting stint on The Ellen DeGeneres Show today. In the promo clip, Aniston arrives at Perry’s house for advice since he’s co-hosted with Ellen previously. She mistakenly calls him David [Schwimmer] and jokes about his canceled show Go On. Soon after Cox pops up and also has problems remembering names. She refers to Jen as Lisa [Kudrow]. Check out the video below which also features DeGeneres and Portia DeRossi making brief cameos.
It’s purely speculative at this moment, but how friggin’ awesome would it be if this actually came to fruition. According to Vulture.com, American Idol execs are contemplating replacing at least one, if not all the judges, with former contestants. The site claims that both Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson have been approached while Clay Aiken and Adam Lambert are also rumored to be in the running.
In my dream world, a Clarkson-Hudson-Lambert trifecta would be EVERYTHING. Not only do they all have successful post-Idol careers but each would bring something different to the table. Kelly would be the nurturing down-to-earth motherly one, while Jennifer would be Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj combined- divalicious and sassy. Need I say what Adam would bring- glamor and pure gayness. In addition, each had a different journey on the show. We have a winner, runner-up and someone who was eliminated way before their time.
FOX needs to make this happen. This could be the direction needed to save the show. Clearly high-priced talent hasn’t done the trick. The show’s massive ratings decline this season resulted in FOX losing the 2012-2013 TV season in the coveted 18-49 demo to CBS for the first time in eight years.
It’s fascinating how a simple video concept can be the most mesmerizing sometimes. At face value, there’s not much to Maroon 5′s latest music video “Love Somebody.” It features Adam Levine getting hot and heavy with model Emily Ratajkowski. The two slowly unveil their painted bodies by touching and caressing each other. Hopefully, Levine’s real life Victoria’s Secret girlfriend doesn’t get too jealous. Things get rather steamy. The track is the fourth official single lifted from the band’s multi-platinum selling album, Overexposed.
Once again, director Rich Lee delivers another visually captivating piece. If you’re not familiar with his work, a few of my favorites include videos for Nicole Scherzinger (“Don’t Hold Your Breath”), The Black Eyed Peas (“The Time (Dirty Bit)”), Michael Buble (“Haven’t Met You Yet”) and Fergie (“Clumsy”) to name a few. Check out his latest creation below.
