After their Maya Rudolph variety show special experiment yielded solid ratings, NBC has decided to permanently resurrect the format. The network announced it ordered a new primetime variety series based on the hugely popular U.K. format Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway. Mr. song and dance himself, Neil Patrick Harris will host the variety show.

As I watched the show, I couldn’t stop smiling. Now that I’ve seen many seasons, my face hurts. It’s a game changer,” said Harris in a press release. “Nothing like this has been done before, and its unique structure fits right into my random skill set. I can’t wait to roll up my sleeves and have some fun!”

It’s no secret Neil Patrick was interested in starring in a variety show. He expressed his desire to do one when he revealed last year, he turned down hosting gigs for both of CBS’ late night talk shows.

Now that all the data from the series premiere of The Flash have been tabulated, it’s official… The CW has a hit on their hands. The comic book television adaptation sped past the competition big time.

Ratings for the Arrow spin-off rises to 6.8 million total viewers after final Live + 7 Day Nielsen ratings data have been factored in. It becomes the CW’s most watched telecast of any series in the history of the network since its September 2006 launch. Congrats to executive producer Greg Berlanti, actor Grant Gustin and the entire cast.

My favorite ex Pussycat Doll is back with a hot new single destined to be a gay club anthem. Jessica Sutta recently unleashed the delicious Producer SX-crafted track titled “Candy.” It’s the lead cut off her long-awaited debut solo album, Feline Resurrection, due out in early 2015. Here’s what she told The Advocate about her tasty new offering.

“I worked on the song with two very talented and great people, Lil Eddie, who has incredible penmanship and a true ear for melodies, and S-X, my 21-year-old super producer. We sat in the studio and the energy was vibrating with a beautiful creative flow and we didn’t leave until we had created some sexy, delicious, yummy candy” – Jessica Sutta

Since breaking free from the girl group, the 32-year-old singer has released well-received solo work. Next to Nicole Scherzinger, I would have to say Sutta is arguably the most successful among her former felines. She’s scored a few dance hits, including the infectious No. 1 club smash, “Show Me.” With “Candy,” Sutta was presented at the pre-selection of Eurovision to represent Switzerland in 2015.

I firmly believe she’ll eventually make a huge name for herself as a solo artist. She deserves it. She’s talented, beautiful and more importantly, a nice person. During all my encounters with her, she’s always been gracious and very genuine. Congrats on the scorching new single. Give it a listen below.

Debra Messing announced her split from her boyfriend of two years, Will Chase, this week. Meanwhile, her former Will & Grace co-star’s love life seems to be in better shape.

E! Online reports Sean Hayes is engaged to his longtime partner Scott Icenogle. Speculation about the upcoming nuptials arose when the 44-year-old sitcom actor flashed a band on his left ring finger during an appearance on The Talk.

Calvin Harris and Big Sean might not seem like they have much in common, but one thing they both share is a disdain for their exes- Rita Ora and Naya Rivera respectively. The 26-year-old rapper threw massive digs at Rivera on “I Don’t Fuck With You” earlier this year. It appears he’s not done taking shots at his ex-fiance.

“All my exes are owin’ me, wishin’ they could X and O me / I’m on the edge and I’m hangin’ all off, on a ledge and we danglin’ off / and if I let go I won’t fall off, if we set a wedding date don’t call off,” raps Big Sean on the track. Forget a woman scorned, hell hath no fury like a rapper scorned.

Open Wide” is the latest track Calvin has shared off his forthcoming album Motion in stores November 4. If the beat sounds familiar, Harris previously used it on a track titled “C.U.B.A.” With Sean’s rap though it elevates the track to official club banger status. Check out the newly-released video below which features two gangs at war in the desert while a female dancer avoids flying bullets.

Much like Colin Farrell did, Taylor Kitsch confirms his own involvement with True Detective Season 2 via an interview and not through a press release penned by television execs. The 33-year-old let the cat out of the proverbial bag to Ad Week.

I’m not exactly sure why HBO didn’t confirm Kitsch’s addition when they announced Vince Vaughan’s casting. Regardless, Taylor is in. I wonder when the studio will talk Rachel McAdams. She’s been long-rumored to play the third detective. In the meantime, check out some photos snapped by Miller Mobley below for Taylor’s interview in Ad Week.

On Joining True Detective

“Yeah, I’m really excited. I’ve just been prepping. It’s been almost a full year since I’ve been on camera, so I’m itching, man. I’m overdue. You’ve just got to grind it out. …”

You’ll never picture “My Heart Will Go On” the same way ever again. No longer will you envision Leonardo DiCaprio holding Kate Winslet at the bow of the Titanic. Instead, you’ll see Captain America, Iron Man and all your favorite Avengers engaging in slow motion battle.

Some clever fan ingeniously dubbed the soaring ballad over the recently-released The Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer. It’s insane how some of the footage perfectly lines up to some key moments of the song.

Chris Evans knocking down the door while the diva wails the lyrics, “once more you open the door” is almost too good to be true. Another highlight is when Elizabeth Olsen dramatically lets out a cry at the onset of the song’s bridge.

For the next film, producers should really consider enlisting the 46-year-old singer. Her voice would make everything more emotionally epic as evident in this spoof. Definitely check it out below. It’s truly something to behold.
