Both Justin Bieber and One Direction were in full promotional mode all last week for their respective new albums. After the dust settled, the Canadian singer beat out the boys from the UK. Purpose earned 649,000 equivalent album units (522,000 in pure album sales) during its first week. Meanwhile, 1D moved 459,000 units, 402,000 in pure album sales.

Not only his Purpose, the Bieb’s sixth No. 1 album, but it also represents his largest sales week ever. His previous best was Believe which sold 374,000 during its first week in 2012. Sadly though for Justin, he’ll only have a one-week reign. Adele is set to crush Billboard records when her numbers are tallied next week.

Speaking of records, Justin achieved a big one over on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Find out below.

After a lengthy delay due to finding the right Danny Zuko, FOX finally airs Grease Live! on January 31. It appears it was worth the wait. The first official cast promo images are on point.

Aaron Tveit steps into John Travolta’s tight black jeans quite nicely, while Vanessa Hudgens channels her inner Pink Lady, playing Betty Rizzo. Two images of Julianne Hough show us the two sides of Sandy- the innocent new girl at school and the sexy vixen at the end of the flick.

Hopefully, images of Carlos PenaVega as Kenickie, Keke Palmer as Marty, Carly Rae Jepsen as Frenchy, Kether Donohue as Jan and David Del Rio as Putzie follow soon.

Jessie J will also take part in the production, performing a rendition of “Grease (Is the Word)” at the beginning of the telecast. Check out the images below.

The second the American Music Awards picked Jennifer Lopez to host the 2015 telecast, you just knew we’d be in store for multiple costume changes. The 46-year-old entertainer certainly didn’t disappoint. She rocked ten separate looks. Girlfriend didn’t mess around.

While there’s no doubt J. Lo can rock a garbage bag and make it look like haute couture, some of the outfits she wore on stage were more successful than others. Check out my ranking of my least to favorite looks Lopez modeled. Be sure to share your thoughts if you agree/disagree with my picks.

Just like Beyonce when she worked with the Swedish retailer, Katy Perry too has recorded an original track for H&M. “Every Day Is A Holiday” is, you guessed it, a Christmas song all about the festive season.

If you’re not a Perry fan, I highly recommend avoiding H&M for the next few weeks. This will no doubt be played on a constant loop. I almost feel sorry for the store employees. As if dealing with the cranky shoppers wasn’t bad enough.

The accompanying visual is everything you’d expect from the 31-year-old singer. It’s over-the-top, campy, colorful and has about a million things going on. Perry dresses up as a tin soldier, fairy and in other merry outfits.

For me though, the most interesting thing is Sean O’Pry is featured in the ad. The 26-year-old model played the love interest in Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” visual. Considering there’s “Bad Blood” between these two ladies, I wonder if casting Sean was some sort of shade from Katy. If so, well done. I love a good celebrity cat fight.

Who exactly is Who Is Fancy and how did he manage to snag Ariana Grande and Meghan Trainor for his new single? The 24-year-old American singer, born Jake Hagood, opened for both ladies during their respective tours. To boot, like Grande, he’s signed with Scooter Braun. The talent manager loves making his artists collaborate together.

Boys Like You” is off the first single off Fancy’s forthcoming debut album. The track has a very throwback doo-wop vibe which leads me to believe Trainor, in addition to providing vocals, also worked behind the scenes on the song.

Given the star power involved it should do well on radio and on the charts. It’s a cute track and with an equally cute visual. Trainor and Grande are animated characters hitting on a pool boy. For me, Ariana steals the show. Check out the video below.

Heading into the 43rd annual American Music Awards, The Weeknd and Taylor Swift led the pack with six nominations apiece. The “Hills” singer walked away with two awards while the “Blank Space” chanteuse snagged three statues. Other multiple winners of the night were One Direction, Nicki Minaj and Florida Georgia Line.

As with most music awards show, the telecast was all about the performances. Jennifer Lopez kicked the night off by performing a slowed-down version of her hit “Waiting For Tonight” before pulling an insane dance routine to a mashup featuring the year’s biggest hits. Girl slayed it and then some.

Other memorable performances were Demi Lovato joining Alanis Morissette on “You Oughta Know,” Charlie Puth and Meghan Trainor making out to “Marvin Gaye,” Ariana Grande performing “Focus” without her signature high ponytail, Pentatonix with their Star Wars tribute and Nick Jonas and Justin Bieber each singing a medley of their hits. By far though, the emotional high point was Celine Dion’s tribute to Paris. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

Check out all the performances below and share your thoughts on your favorite AMA moment.

Adele Poses As An Adele Impersonator For Comedy Sketch

In: Donovan, Music

No doubt you’ve probably already seen this as it’s gone massively viral. I’m a little late to the game due to a hectic weekend of festivities. The holiday season is definitely upon us.

Armed with a prosthetic nose and chin, Adele posed as an Adele impersonator for a comedy sketch airing on BBC. Unbeknownst to the other impersonators invited to the Wimbledon Theatre to audition for Graham Norton’s television special, the real life “Hello” singer was standing with them.

But no amount of makeup could hide the fact it was Adele once she started singing. The look on each lady’s face as she realized what was happening was priceless. Check out the entertaining clip below. Even if you’ve already seen it, it’s worth a second, third, fourth look.

I Know What You Did Last Summer” seems to be a very popular song title these days. Kelly Rowland assisted 18-year-old Jacob Whitesides with his ballad and now this. This duet, however, features more age-appropriate partners.

Shawn Mendes enlists Fifth Harmony’s Camila Cabello for his emotional new track. The powerful collaboration is off the Canadian singer’s reissue of his debut album, Handwritten. On a side note, bravo to Cabello for trying a little side project. And by that, I mean both this track and Mendes. He’s kinda cute, but he’ll be hotter when he’s older 😉

The ballad immediately made an impact on iTunes. With the accompanying visual now here, the long-term prospects look good. Check out the Ryan Pallotta-directed clip below where the teen couple walk towards each other during stormy weather.
