In: Donovan, TV Shows

Look what Joe Jonas has started!!! Earlier this year, Nick’s older brother became a registered Uber driver and started documenting his trips for a special project. Jimmy Kimmel has followed suit and started a new segment for his late night talk show. As a new Uber driver, he’s excited to give rides and hopefully change lives.

For his first pickup, a gentleman from Gabon enters his vehicle. The man is returning home after studying dentistry in America. Naturally, the passenger was shocked to see Kimmel, saying “Oh my God — no f*cking way!”

Before he heads home, Kimmel takes him to a Hollywood gift shop to buy souvenirs for his loved ones back home. Jimmy even manages to take a dig at Matt Damon along the way.

Watch the clip below to see what knick-knacks are purchased and his family’s reaction upon receiving the souvenirs. It’s kinda an adorable clip.

Some longtime viewers of American Horror Story have taken issue with Ryan Murphy changing the show’s theme music for Freak Show. Turns out there’s a reason why.

Season 3 Voice standout Melanie Martinez released her debut EP earlier this year. One track featured on the well-received offering was “Carousel.” Being a fan of the show, Martinez reached out to the show’s producers about using her spooky gypsy-sounding track once she heard of the upcoming theme. A couple of days before the promo aired, the network finally reached out to her. Naturally, she was ecstatic “The whole thing was just crazy,” she told HuffPo.

Melanie just released the accompanying visual for “Carousel.” Naturally it’s set in a carnival environment filled with all things spooky. Directed by Adam Donald, Melanie chases a buff blond guy who ends up deceiving her. Though the clip and beat have an eerie feel, the lyrics are quite sad, comparing the search for true love to going round and round aimlessly on a carousel. Give the entertaining visual a watch below.

Several attempts to adapt Nathaniel Philbrick’s novel, In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex, to the big screen have been made since it won the National Book Award in 2000. Ron Howard finally got the job done. Give it up to Opie!!!

The prolific director takes the real-life story of men aboard the 19th century whale ship Essex to epic heights. Their harrowing journey includes an encounter with a giant sperm whale, being shipwrecked and their tale of survival which includes cannibalism. Their experiences would later become the inspiration for Moby Dick.

Howard reunites with Chris Hemsworth for the big screen adaptation. The two previously worked on Rush. Cillian Murphy, Ben Whishaw, Benjamin Walker and Charlotte Riley also star in the film. In The Heart of the Sea opens in March 2015. Watch the first trailer below.

Did you love watching Jessica Lange spectacularly cover David Bowie’s “Life On Mars” on the premiere of American Horror Story: Freak Show? If so, I’m sure you felt the same way about episode two’s musical number.

On this week’s episode it was Sarah Paulson’s turn to take the spotlight. She gave a flawless rendition of Fiona Apple’s “Criminal.” Love that she was able to provide her own background vocals due to having two heads. The whole thing was so whacky, it was awesome. I can’t wait to see what else Ryan Murphy has up his sleeves.

After what I felt was a rather slow premiere, the second episode had me captivated. Love the introduction of Michael Chiklis and Angela Bassett’s characters. And how insane is Finn Wittrock on the show? He makes Twisty The Clown absolutely sane. Speaking of which, I change my tune on how freaky Murphy’s clown is. The visual of him without his mouthpiece was terrifying. I’m definitely going to have nightmares because of that.

Did you enjoy the second episode? Who’s your favorite character so far? Did Paulson do Apple proud with her cover? Sound off below.

There have been some very unique initiatives to raise awareness for testicular cancer in recent years. From men growing mustaches during Movember to brave dudes waxing their balls and everything in between.

The most recent campaign is the Feeling Nuts Challenge. It’s been making the rounds the past couple of weeks with such notable stars like Hugh Jackman and William Shatner grabbing their crotches to encourage men to get checked for testicular cancer on a regular basis.

The latest celeb to jump on the bandwagon is former O-Town member Ashley Parker Angel. He posted a selfie on Instagram, wearing just a pair of boxers and his sculpted abs. Check it out below, along with another shirtless photo posted recently by Angel.

Idina Menzel Releases Trailer For New Christmas Album

In: Donovan, Music

Idina Menzel releasing a Christmas album might be odd to some. After all, the 43-year-old entertainer’s parents divorced during the holidays and she’s Jewish. When asked about the latter by Time Magazine, she replied, if Babs can do it, so can she.

“Most of them were songs that I’ve always wanted to sing. “Do You Hear What I Hear?” is a song Whitney Houston sang back in the ‘80s. Her version is incredible. I’ve always loved that song. If Barbra Streisand can make a Christmas album, I can.” – Idina Menzel

Halloween hasn’t passed yet, but Holiday Wishes is already in stores. Even Menzel thinks it’s too early. Clearly her fans agree as well. It’s pacing to sell only around 18-21,000 copies in its first week of release. I don’t blame her label for jumping the gun though. Holiday-themed albums can be quite lucrative. And if done well, can generate revenue every year during the Yuletide season.

Idina takes on such classics like “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” “Do You Hear What I Hear,” and “Baby It’s Cold Outside” to name a few on the festive LP. Michael Buble duets with her on the later. Give the album teaser a listen below. If you love Idina’s voice, this is a must for this Christmas.
