Target really loves the music video business. They previously sponsored Gwen Stefani’s live music video for “Make Me Like You” a couple years back. Then the retailer teamed up with Carly Rae Jepsen and Lil Yachty for their “It Takes Two” cover. For their latest collabo, Zedd received the call.
The 28-year-old Russian-German record producer recently premiered “The Middle” which features Grey and country star Maren Morris. The infectious bop blends country and EDM brilliantly. “Baby / Why don’t you just meet me in the middle / I’m losing my mind just a little”, sings Morris on the track about the importance of compromise in a relationship. The sound really suits Morris. She should consider crossing over à la Taylor Swift.
The accompanying visual just arrived. Dave Meyers, who directed Stefani’s video, returns to helm the clip. Like the company’s other sponsored visuals, there’s plenty of black and white with splashes of the company’s signature red color. “The Middle” will also serve as the soundtrack to the Target Style spring campaign which kicks off Feb. 4.
“I finally got to work on a music video with Dave Meyers. It’s such an honor!! Also, this was definitely the most people I’ve ever had in one music video!!! I hope you like it,” Zedd said. Morris added, “Dancing in stilettos for 15 hours? Worth it. :)” Check it out below.
