For Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, the 30-year-old actor is playing one of the most notorious serial killers of all-time, Ted Bundy. Definitely a departure from his usual roles which have geared towards comedic or musical. He has, however, dabbled in drama with parts in Parkland, The Paperboy and Charlie St. Cloud.
Oscar-nominated documentary filmmaker Joe Berlinger will helm the film which is being told from the perspective of Elizabeth Kloepfer, Bundy‘s longtime girlfriend who ended up turning him into the police. Lily Collins tackles that role.
Bundy targeted young women and girls during his reign of terror in the 70s. He was regarded by many of his victims as handsome and charismatic, traits that he exploited to win their trust. Ted ultimately confessed to 30 homicides, but many believe the true victim count could be much higher. He was executed by electrocution on January 24, 1989 in Florida. He was 42-years-old at the time.
John Malkovich also stars in the film as judge Edward Cowart. Production is set to begin this week. Check out the first pic of Efron as Bundy below which Zac posted on Instagram.
