If looks could kill, then Zac Efron would be a serial killer. His stunning good looks and insane physique are a deadly combination. For his next film, the 29-year-old actor is playing one of the most notorious serial killers of all-time.
Efron has been tapped to play the infamous criminal Ted Bundy in the upcoming film, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. Oscar-nominated documentary filmmaker Joe Berlinger will helm the film which is being told from the perspective of Elizabeth Kloepfer, Bundy‘s longtime girlfriend who ended up turning him into the police.
Bundy targeted young women and girls during his reign of terror in the 70s. He was regarded by many of his victims as handsome and charismatic, traits that he exploited to win their trust. Ted ultimately confessed to 30 homicides, but many believe the true victim count could be much higher. He was executed by electrocution on January 24, 1989 in Florida. He was 42-years-old at the time.
This dramatic part is a bit of a departure from Efron’s usual roles. Since his High School Musical days, Zac has mostly stayed in the comedic lane, starring in 17 Again, That Awkward Moment, Neighbors, Dirty Grandpa, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates and the upcoming Baywatch feature film. He has starred in some more serious fare including Parkland, The Paperboy and Charlie St. Cloud.
Is Efron the correct choice for this part? I personally think it’s inspired and predict he’ll surprise many. Wise decision on his part to rack up more serious films. Weigh in below.
