Years & Years kicked off their sophomore era with the cinematic clip “Sanctify.” The visual was a dystopian affair set in Palo Santo, an imaginary society of androids who capture humans for the purpose of entertainment. The British synth-pop trio are sticking with the sci-fi premise for their new music video.
“If You’re Over Me,” off their upcoming album Palo Santo out July 6, is a bubbly bop about breakups. “Yesterday you said I’m the one, but now you say you’re done,” lead singer Olly Alexander sings. “Stop telling me what I need baby, if you’re over me.”
In the clip, Alexander dances in a talent show while band members Mikey Goldsworthy and Emre Turkmen perform a magic trick. These human cabarets are attended by the androids hoping to experience real emotion. Watch all the action unfold below.
