Releasing your own song after appearing on a reality show seems like a rite of passage these days. While most are God awful, there are a few gems that come to mind. Kim Zolciak’s “Tardy For The Party” is definitely one of them. Surprisingly, another one that I loved and grew on me came via RuPaul Drag Race alum Mimi Imfurst. The Season 3 contestant along with Rony G and JC Cassis formed a girl group XELLE (pronouned XL) and released the extremely catchy “Party Girl“. XELLE is the first girl group that consists of two girls and a drag queen. The trio are back with a brand new song and telling the world they are “Invincible“.
The empowering new single is from their upcoming album “Queens“. In collaboration with GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network), “Invincible” is an uplifting party anthem with a positive message of loving oneself. “When I was in high school, it was bullying by my peers and being assaulted by a school personnel that lead to me being outed to my family,” says XELLE member, Mimi Imfurst, “I then found myself homeless after being kicked out of my house for being gay. GLSEN was one of the organizations that supported me during that time. As a member of XELLE, it’s important that we give back so no young person has to experience what I did.” Check out “Invincible” below.
The Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network (GLSEN) strives to assure that each member of every school community is valued and respected regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression. Proceeds from the sales of “Invincible” go to support GLSEN, and the creation of welcoming and safe school communities for all students.
