Watch the wine flow

I need to start this post off with a confession. I know almost nothing about wine. Ok, I know it comes from grapes (right?), and I am starting to learn what I like and I don’t like. The beautiful thing is that a lot of the time I don’t need to know as my friends can point me in the right direction. Or, you can just join a club and just get that vino delivered.

One service I’ve come across is called Hemispheres. It’s easy:

  • Choose a level of membership based on your level of alcohol appreciation
  • Charge it
  • Wait for the delivery man

One great thing about this service is that the wine they choose are from vineyards (look at me – getting all technical) that don’t typically supply chain liquor stores or even some niche wine shops. There’s something nice to know that if you got a primo bottle of wine, everyone can’t just go out and fill their cellars with it.

Looking at the prices it may seem a bit expensive, but after a few Google searches and me mashing my calculator, the math works out pretty well. Work with me here.

  • The 2nd level of membership costs $2000.
  • You get 8 cases of wine.
  • There are 12 bottles in a case.

Carry the 6…..Square root the integer…If I passed high school math, that averages out to about $20 a bottle for a fine bottle o’ wine – delivered. Here at the office we have a few of us sharing a membership and the costs.

DISCLAIMER: I work for the company that developed the online presence of Hemispheres Wine Guild. It doesn’t take away from the fact that I think it’s an awesome service. Plus the guy we work with looks like Matthew Fox from Lost, and that’s awesome.
