Willow Smith just uploaded a new track to her SoundCloud (along with the photo above) and I have to say, I’m pleasantly surprised. It couldn’t be more different from the music we’ve come to expect from her so far which includes songs like, “Whip My Hair,” “21st Century Girl” and duet with Nicky Minaj, “Fireball.”

This new song is called “Sugar and Spice” and it’s a more dark, mellow, and melancholy song than her previous tracks. Some of the lyrics from the song include: “I try to be sugar and spice / But I’m melancholy and can’t do anything right / The monsters me under bed keep making noise at night. I just want silence.” In another part, she sings, “They wanna puncture me and wonder why I bleed.” She sounds super sad in the song, but at the very least I’m glad she’s able to channel it into her music. Hopefully the haters that she’s dealing with or whatever is happening behind the scenes is dealt with.

The song really showcases her voice and I can actually see her evolving into a Rihanna like pop-star as she gets older. She definitely has the backing, resources, and experience from her papa to make that happen. Listen to the song below and let me know what you think!
