This may just be the best idea ever. The Los Angeles Times recently sat down with Elton John to talk about his plans for 2012. Not unlike Elton, he gave a long list of projects he was ready to start work on. One of those includes a new album but the more interesting project he spoke of was a forthcoming biopic that he describes as “a surreal look at my life, and not just a factual look at my life, more in the manner of a Moulin Rouge.”
The script has already been penned by Billy Elliot writer Lee Hall and a director and star will be chosen in the upcoming months. Please tell me that Baz Luhrman is atop the director’s list. If you want to carry the same essence of Moulin Rouge, there is no one better. Elton says he has a list of actors he’d love to play himself, but numero uno on the list is none other than pop star and now actor extraordinaire, Justin Timberlake. All I have to say is Elton, you have marvellous taste!
Many or quick to say it won’t work with Justin not even coming close to the look of Elton in his thirties. However, with Justin’s voice and more-than capable piano playing skills, I think he would do great. While some say that Justin’s ability to carry off a full-length feature film is inadequate, think of the film being more like Across The Universe and compare each sequence to a music video. Justin has this in the bag.
It also doesn’t hurt that Justin has played the role of Elton before. In 2001, Elton released throwback album that contained some of his strongest songwriting in years. One of those singles was a tune called This Train Don’t Stop There Anymore. Instead of Elton starring in the music video, Justin was chosen to portray the singer and he nailed it. Check it out below.

After observing the above evidence, do you think Justin Timberlake is a good choice to play Elton John? If not, who would you like to see in the role? Sound off below.
