The View kicked off Season 21 by celebrating a milestone anniversary for one of the panelists. Whoopi Goldberg rang in her 10th year as the daytime talk show’s moderator. She joined the show in late 2007 after the one-and-done season of Rosie O’Donnell who replaced Meredith Vieira.
Speaking of Vieira, the Ghost actress now passes her and Star Jones, who spent nine years each on the chatfest. Only Joy Behar, who’s still on the show, and the legendary Barbara Walters (17 years) have more years under their belts.
Over the past few years, Goldberg has been the glue that’s kept the long-running show together amid all the panel changes. Believe it or not, the show is experiencing a bit of a renaissance. By focusing on political stories under Donald Trump’s presidency, last season’s ratings were the highest in three years, beating rival The Talk which tends to lean more pop culture.
On the Season 21 premiere, the panel surprised Goldberg with a montage of her greatest moments. After the walk down memory lane, Chaka Khan popped up to perform “Ain’t Nobody.” Check out the celebration below.
