When I first saw the title of the film and who was in it, I was expecting something super cheesy or maybe even a comedy, but I was wrong and pleasantly surprised. White House Down is an upcoming action-thriller film directed by Roland Emmerich and starring Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx and Maggie Gyllenhaal. I think I thought comedy because the first thing that came to mind was Jamie Foxx singing “Channing All Over Your Tatum” a while back on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon…but anyway…

Here’s the premise of the film: “When a paramilitary group led by Stenz (Jason Clarke) take over the White House, Capitol Policeman John Cale (Channing Tatum), a failed applicant to the Secret Service, must rescue the President of the United States James Sawyer (Jamie Foxx). The trailer is pretty epic, which is to be expected when you consider that the director of this movie also directed Independance Day, The Day After Tomorrow, and 2012. In the trailer, they say “Our darkest secrets will become our biggest threats.”

As a side note, another “White House attack” type movie called Olympus Has Fallen comes out this month and that once looks good too. The film comes out this summer, opening in theaters on June 28, 2013. Watch the trailer below!
