A new campaign called “We Are Jamaicans” has just been launched to raise awareness and promote understanding in a country where homophobia is a deadly issue. The campaign is funded with the support of the Caribbean Vulnerable Communities Coalition (CVC) through its Global Fund Vulnerablised Project.
So far, five videos have been updated with individuals speaking out honestly about their experiences and how they are no different than anyone else. They love their country and don’t want to be forced to migrate because of the ignorance of others. It’s quite touching and heartbreaking, with each video set to the “Same Love” equality song.
I really commend these brave people for speaking out. Jamaica is one of those countries where I would definitely be afraid to speak out so I think it’s very courageous and important that they are doing this. Watch the videos below.

BRILLIANT!
As a gay Jamaican, I don’t think i’d have the balls to do what they’re doing. Hopefully a first step has been made towards a higher level of understanding and or tolerance.

I’m Jamaican and I can say that I’m proud of those people they are doing something few would ever do especially somewhere like Jamaica. I cried while watching the video cause I’m gay and I remember what I went through when u came out.
