Vogue Recreates George Michael’s Iconic ‘Freedom 90’ Video With New Models

vogue-freedom-video-remakeInstead of appearing in his “Freedom! 90” music video, George Michael enlisted five of the biggest names during the 90s supermodel era to star in the visual. He decided this after seeing Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Tatjana Patitz and Naomi Campbell on the January 1990 cover of British Vogue. The David Fincher-directed video became one of the most memorable fashion-music pop culture moments in history. Personally, it’s one of my favorite music clips of all-time.

To celebrate the 26th anniversary release of Michael’s exhilarating pop anthem, Vogue corralled a bunch of new models to step in for the legendary icons.

The publication tapped director Gordon von Steiner to recreate the iconic video during New York Fashion Week. Check out Adriana Lima, Joan Smalls, Anna Ewers, Taylor Hill, Liu Wen, Vittoria Ceretti, Irina Shayk and more below lip-sync to the upbeat track.
