Ever since I’m a kid, I’ve been fascinated with Vikings. I don’t know what it is, but anything Viking-related, I’ll check out. During my trip to Ireland a few years ago, I made sure I stopped by Dublinia- a look into Viking and medieval Dublin. I can only imagine the awesome historic sites in Denmark, Norway and Sweden. They’re definitely next on my travel agenda.

With all that said, naturally I was going to sample the History Channel’s new scripted series, Vikings. Loosely based upon the reign of Viking King Ragnar Lothbrok, the nine-part show will follow Ragnar’s longing to explore civilization in the West and also his struggles to become king. Playing the title is former Calvin Klein model, Travis Fimmel. The Aussie is joined by a stellar cast which includes Gabriel Bryne (In Treatment), Jessalyn Gilsig (Glee), Katheryn Winnick (Bones), George Blagden (Les Misérables) and Clive Standen (Camelot).

With the premiere date of March 3 only a month away, the History Channel has kicked their promotional efforts in high gear. Not only did they air a teaser during the Super Bowl, but they just released the wicked artwork shown above. I fully expect the series to be bloody given that the Norsemen were known for their epic and violent raids during medieval times. Check out the two released teasers of the show below.
