If FOX and Simon Cowell were looking for fireworks when they hired Britney Spears for the second season of “The X Factor“, they certainly got what they wished for. On her first day on the job, Britney was involved in a feud with a fellow judge and also walked away from the panel at one point. Drama, drama, drama.
Firstly, let’s discuss a disagreement with Britney and fellow freshmen judge Demi Lovato. In an audio obtained by the Hollywood Reporter, the two female judges butted heads regarding one of the contestants. Naturally, it was over a boy. Not just any boy, but a 14-year-old singer who Spears thinks could be bigger than Justin Bieber. Demi starts off by critiquing the boy.
“I think that you have a great voice and your tone was great,” Lovato, 19, says. “But, I don’t really know where you fit. I don’t know what’s going to set you apart from other musicians who are boys. So, I think you just have to find out what makes you special and what separates you from all the other teenage boys in this industry.” – Demi Lovato
Having a different point of view, Brit offers a more optimistic view and tells the boy, “I think you can be bigger than the next Justin Bieber.” Her response, reportedly garnered a huge applause and cheers from the Austin audience. Someone’s playing to the crowds. She continues with the following.
I feel like your runs are amazing,” the 30-year-old continues. “And I do feel like with a little more training, you could actually [inaudible] better presentation, but I see what’s there. And you’re very gifted. Thank you.” – Britney Spears
Could this be the beginning of a Demi and Britney feud? I surely hope so. According to L.A. Reid himself, he’s also clashed with newbie judge Lovato. Hopefully Demi is mentally strong enough to handle all these confrontations.
If that wasn’t enough drama for Britney’s first day, here’s more juicy tidbits. According to TMZ, the “Toxic” singer walked off the set during taping. The incident occurred after a contestant performed one of Spears’ tracks, “Hold It Against Me“. None to pleased with the awful rendition, Brit split and was missing in action.
Reportedly, she missed four performances during her walk out, leaving Cowell, Reid and Lovato to give feedback to the auditioners. Britney tried to downplay her exit and tweeted the following as an explanation, “Was just taking a little break people. I am having the BEST time!!!“. Yeah, right!!! No one really believes that lame-o excuse.
With this much already happening, I’m even more excited for the second season to air on Fox this Fall. I’m even more stoked for when the show kicks into its live shows. I’m hoping for a few meltdowns and WTF comments from a live unedited Brit. Who else is with me with that train of thinking? Sound off below.

It was just a matter of time but I didn’t expect it to be on the first day. LOL

I think Britney Spears is a nutjob and not fit to be on shows as a judge.

it’s sad. What started off as a great article depicting the audition process turned into a promo for wanting to see someone fail. the process isn’t about her own personal issues- I don’t care about her issues. Britney and Demi are at least trying.
And if someone was a “nutjob” making fun of them for it is simply rude and uncalled for.

really? stop creating unnecessary drama. How old are you 14? She walked off and she explained why?. No need to make it a bigger deal and all the comments that were recorded yesterday were live and unedited

She is the princess of Pop for a reason. Living legend and a pop icon. She knows her business, and whether you love her or hate her you can’t stop looking at her, talk about celebrity power.

Lovato seemed like a weird pick as I’m not a tween and only heard of her after she went to rehab. Relative to other mainstream artists she really hasn’t proven her potential for longevity. Spears may not be the greatest singer…or performer anymore, but at least she has a solid legacy and likely has some genuine wisdom. It’s kind of a bummer to see Simon going for publicity through judges. Had he found a way to put Howard Stern on X Factor instead of his other show America’s Got Talent, I think he could have set up a solid second season with a publicity getting figure who could also be a great judge.

Lol, although I just remembered that judges also serve as coaches on X Factor…which admittedly would have been hilarious to see Stern try and do.
