It’s the night we’ve all been waiting for. Saturday Night Live kicks off its 42nd season this Saturday. No disrespect to Margot Robbie, who’s hosting for the first time, but I’m tuning in to watch the sketch comedy tackle the Hillary Clinton-Donald Trump presidential debate that took place earlier this week.
For spoofs involving the entrepreneur turned presidential hopeful, Darrell Hammond previously played him. Not this time. Alec Baldwin steps in to play The Donald while Kate McKinnon, once again, channels Clinton. McKinnon is coming off a huge accomplishment. Earlier this month, she became the first SNL cast member to win an acting Emmy award.
If NBC attracts even a fraction of the audience that the actual debate generated, I expect huge numbers for SNL. The Monday night battle royale broke a record, bringing in over 85 million viewers. The previous most-viewed one occurred in 1980 when 81 million viewed Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter debate.
SNL Season 42 begins this Saturday. Check out the promo below.
