Troye Sivan is one busy boy these days. He’s currently touring North America with Kim Petras to promote his sophomore album Bloom. In addition, he pulled double duty on the gay conversion therapy film Boy Erased, both acting in it and recording “Revelation.” Turns out that’s not the only film he recorded a track for. He did for Bohemian Rhapsody as well.
The 23-year-old singer takes on the Queen classic “Somebody To Love.” He strips down the gospel-tinged anthem to deliver an electronic moody mellow rendition. It’s moving and tugs at the heartstrings. “I’m so beyond honored to have been asked to cover ‘Somebody to Love’ by Queen, a masterful song by the most legendary band,” Sivan said about his cover.
Sivan is just the latest to cover a Queen classic in support of The Mercury Phoenix Trust. 5 Seconds of Summer tackled “Killer Queen” while Shawn Mendes covered “Under Pressure” with Teddy Geiger. Proceeds from the tracks will be donated to charity to assist with the worldwide fight against HIV/AIDS.
