Sooner or later, all of our old toys will be movie stars. Another toy from your past (now in your parent’s attic) is coming to life in a movie about the infamous “Treasure Trolls” or “Troll Dolls”, as they were referred to. I totally remember these. I think I had a few of them actually, but the one that comes to mind was a doctor with purple hair. So random. Anyway…
DreamWorks Animation has officially licensed the character/doll from a Danish company called “Dam Things.” They’ve also hired brother & sister Adam Wilson and Melanie Wilson LaBracio bring those Dam Things to life and write a script around the Troll dolls’ mythology – whatever that may be. If you saw Toy Story 3, the dolls that originally came out in the 1960s, made a cameo as passengers on a train in the opening sequence of the movie.
The dolls were first made by by Danish woodcarver Thomas Dam as a prezzie for his daughter. Little did he know that the toy would become legendary. In 2003, the Toy Industry Association named Troll dolls one of the 100 most memorable & most creative toys of the 20th century. Holy Troll-y!
