At first Michael Bay denied it, but it appears rumors were true after all. The producer confirmed what people were speculating. What a difference a week makes. Transformers 4 revolves around a new cast of characters (so long Shia Labeouf) and will be a much darker sequel to Transformers: Dark of the Moon. With Labeouf out, Bay was on the hunt for a new leading man to save humanity from the evil Megatron and his army. Find out who below. Side note, how wicked is the new logo incorporating half of the Decepticon insignia? That alone makes me want to revisit the franchise, plus the fact this actor is on board.

If you’ve been following the rumor mill, you’re very well aware that Mark Wahlberg was rumored to be attached to the project. Bay initially said he was considering him for another film and not the Transformers franchise. A few days later he posted on his website that it wasn’t a half bad idea, “Let’s say some ideas are gaining traction with me and my writer – so I’m here to say thanks internet chatter.” I highly doubt that someone like him would cast the sequel based on internet rumors. LOL. Here’s what Bay said about his new leading man.
“Mark is awesome. We had a blast working on Pain and Gain and I’m so fired up to be back working with him. An actor of his caliber is the perfect guy to re-invigorate the franchise and carry on the Transformers’ legacy.” – Michael Bay
I haven’t watched the Transformer films since the first one, because I was so turned off and never bothered to check out the following two. Considering I was a huge fan as a kid growing up, it pained me to do this. What do you think of Mark Wahlberg’s addition? Will you miss Shia Labeouf? Perhaps, he’ll have a cameo in the film. Sound off below.

They just need to stop making these terrible movies.
Or, even better, Michael Bay should just stop making movies altogether. Mark won’t do anything to help the franchise because Michael is still directing.

The third was exhausting to watch. In theaters I literally just rested my eyes until scenes of Leonard Nimoy’s voice happened, then after his character turned randomly stupid I offered to leave early and make reservations at a restaurant for myself and the friends who dragged me to it. Now Wahlberg? I guess Bay knows the formula that will bring in the cash with the least amount of innovative quality.
