Paige Davis isn’t the only one returning to their roots. Several other OGs are taking part in TLC’s reboot of the hit home improvement show, Trading Spaces. PEOPLE snagged the cast list which includes veterans and newbies.
Trading Spaces was a huge hit for TLC in the early 2000s. It’s credited with sparking a nationwide interest in home decorating and the rise of home improvement television series. It also launched the career of Ty Pennington who would later go on to host Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on ABC.
Speaking of Pennington, he’s returning, as is fellow carpenter Carter Oosterhouse. In terms of designers, Doug Wilson, Genevieve Gorder, Hildi Santo-Tomas, Vern Yip, Frank Bielic and Laurie Smith have also signed on. TLC confirms that Doug and Hildi will be designers, but no info has been released on what roles the other originals are taking on.
In terms of new blood, if you watch HGTV, you’ll certainly recognize a few of them. Sabrina Soto (House Hunters, HGTV Star and The High Low Project), former model John Gidding (HGTV’s Curb Appeal) and Kahi Lee (Design on a Dime) have been enlisted as designers. The latter’s clients include Nick Jonas, Chris Brown and Gabrielle Reece to name a few.
The show is also adding two new carpenters- former MMA fighter Brett Tutor and America’s Next Top Model Cycle 6 runner-up Joannie Sprague. The latter has also appeared on DIY Network’s Run My Renovation and Man Caves.
What do you think of the cast? Excited that it’s a blend of old and new? Which of the returning designers are your favorites? Though I never I liked Hildi’s designs during the original run, I can’t wait to see if her aesthetic has changed over the years. Weigh in below.
