Pride week has kicked off here in Toronto this week and Church-Wellesley Village and beyond is on fire right now. Just driving or walking down the streets, you can feel the frequency the city is vibrating at. Although I’m sure we’ll be stopping in for a beer at Woody’s and a drink at Crew’s this week here and there, here’s a little pick of what’s different and going on around the city. Whether you’re staying central, or partying West, these should be a blast and make it feel like Pride.
Toronto’s favourite nail salon Pinky’s is celebrating Pride and their one year anniversary with a fantastic bash at The Melody Bar at The Gladstone Hotel. And considering friend of Homorazzi Cassandra Moore is hosting the ball and one of my fave’s from RPDR Jiggly Caliente is there to entertain, at $10 this party this be a great way to kick off the weekend. Click here for details.
Also if you’re in the Village, Drip kicks off their weekend long party at Smith on Church starting with a great party hosted by Petra Collins on Thursday. There’s something going on every night at Smith Thursday through to Sunnday, and it’s open ’til 4am every night! Bonus!
Friday we have a couple of great features. Big Primpin’ Pride Edition is going on at The Great Hall on Queen St. West, and although performers draw crowds, I have a feeling the beefy Colby Keller will be drawing more than a crowd. He was in town promoting Dixx Magazine last Pride in Vancouver and was an absolute sweetheart, and a total blast.
Secondly on Friday the amazing Willam Belli will be at Mojo Lounge on Dundas West performing with the, again, gorgeous Cassandra Moore and the two will be servin’ fish all night to a drag loving crowd.
Hiphop and porn stars or celebrity drag realness? You choose.
Saturday during the day you’re going to want to get your little butt to Olympic Island to Prism Aqua for the day to dance to the likes of Manny Lehman and Hector Fonseca, not to mention performances by the amazing Carmen Electra. And the beauty is, if you want to make a Carmen Electra day of it, you can head over to the Bud Light South Stage at 436 Church to watch her again at night with SuperKiki brought to you by ProudFM.
If you feel like going off the beaten track, Hot Nuts presents Hard Ton at The Garrison on Dundas West and sounds like it’s going to be a surreal romp of a good time. With tickets on $10, this underwater DOLLphins themed party wants you dancing to house and disco, dressed in your best deep sea aquatic costumes. This might be a see it to believe it kind of party.
Sunday Sunday Sunday, is a day to spend in The Village watching the Pride Parade and attending Blockorama 15 at the TD Wellesley Stage. Amongst a sea of talent, the immeasurable En Vogue is performing, and I’m more than excited to get my 90’s on. Of course, the Tree House party at Ryerson Quad on Gerrard where friend of Homorazzi and Vancouver’s own Nick Bertossi will be spinning is going to be great, so if you feel like outdoor party skipping, that’s the day to do it.
And after all that, if you’re still standing, Prism Revival at Guvernment will be the Prism event to go to, ending your weekend with a bang, or a huge nap.
There’s some tips. Any others, sound off below, and let’s have the best TO Pride ever. I know Homorazzi will!
