Rock time. This is my mood and this is my fall. Dancey summer, soul and rock autumn. I definitely have one newbie, and a couple that you might not have on your playlist that’ll soon be plugging your ears with goodness.
Ohmygoddess. Another. ANOTHER. After the fantastic debut of their single What the Water Gave Me, something else happened yesterday. YouTube gave us gold. GOLD I SAY GOLD JERRY! Shake It Out hits us over the head with a nice stab of cover art for their up and coming October 31st sophomore release “Ceremonials”. Now I’m pretty sure Florence could fart in a microphone and I’d dance to it, but outside of my own skewed judgement, I KNOW this is good. It’s just plum good. Flo flies in the mic and gives us a screaming anthem to get us more stoked for the new album.
Anybody who hasn’t moved past these guys’ summer anthem is just denying themselves an audio pleasure because Foster the People’s debut album “Torches” is A KILLER. It’s got groove, it’s got electronic, and it’s got a whole lot of dancey rock. Like seriously skinny jean dancey rock. IMHO the best track on the album is Houdini. It’s got everything you want to get you moving, and there hasn’t been a morning this week that I haven’t walked to work looking just a little like Mama raised a fool by bustin’ a few moves on the sidewalk. These guys have staying power and I suggest listening to this to get you wanting the entire album. It’s worth your time!
Where was I when this happened and why did no one tell me? I can thank being away this weekend at *cough* Beerfest *cough* (pretty sober time), and taking a long hungover drive in my friend Tash’s car for ever needed sustance for this song. Despite my state, despite my sunglasses pre-morning-after-mimosa, this song came on the radio and I sat up, asked Tash who it was, and Shazam’d to remind myself. It’s got a feel good vibe, an anthemy feel, a little emo, a little fist pump, and I make it my goal to see what the rest of the album, which came out a year ago, is like this week. Until then I got this in my head to carry me through. Rock on Beerfe….i mean N&F. Rock on.
