Trading Spaces was a huge hit for TLC in the early 2000s. It’s credited with sparking a nationwide interest in home decorating and the rise of home improvement television series. It also launched the career of Ty Pennington who would later go on to host Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on ABC.
TLC announced a couple of months ago that it was reviving the series. “TLC is back into home and property with Nate & Jeremiah By Design, our new show helping distressed homeowners turn disasters into dream homes” TLC President Nancy Daniels said in a statement. “We are thrilled to expand in this space, and what better way to do that than to bring back Trading Spaces, the series that put property on the map.”
When the network made the announcement, many fans hoped Paige Davis would return to host. Their wishes have been granted. The 47-year-old host confirmed she’s back in the saddle again via Twitter. “I’m ecstatic that @TLC announced that I’ll be hosting #TradingSpaces!,” she tweeted. She also included the following video, re-introducing herself to a new generation.
Davis actually wasn’t the original host (Alex McLeod was), but had the longest tenure. She appeared on the show from Seasons 2 until midway through Season 5 and returned for its last run, Season 8.
Excited that Trading Spaces is back and with Paige at the helm? Here’s hoping they can get a few of the OG designers to make cameos. Weigh in below.
