This casting development is almost as upsetting as Kenneth Branagh not returning to direct the sequel to “Thor“. I really enjoyed the first film and attribute Branagh’s Shakespeare storytelling background as to why I liked it so much. Yes, Chris Hemsworth’s hot body was great to look at, but there was also a bit of substance to all the visual eye candy. Hopefully new director Alan Taylor will do the franchise proud.

Speaking of eye candy, it was announced one member from the original cast wouldn’t be reprising his role. His ouster doesn’t have anything to do with his acting abilities nor conflict with the cast and crew, but rather time commitment. Due to the unexpected success of another project, this sexy actor had to pass on the “Thor” sequel. Find out who below.

If you guessed Joshua Dallas, then you’re correct. With the runaway success of “Once Upon A Time“, Dallas couldn’t commit to playing Fandral. BOO. Here’s what the Prince Charming actor told Entertainment Weekly about losing out on playing a superhero.

“I’ll be missing out on wearing all that hair,” Dallas told EW.com, laughing. “The timing wasn’t right. I’m bummed about it because I had such a great experience and great time making the first film and was really excited about coming back. Marvel and Disney tried to make it work. But because of my commitment to Once Upon a Time, I was not going to be able to do both. So I’ll have to hand the reins over to someone else. I love Marvel. I wish them all the best. I will certainly be first in line to see it.”

I’m sure he’s happy that he has a steady gig, but probably bummed he won’t be part of a huge blockbuster film. Hit show or not, I’m sure there’s a certain amount of bragging rights when appearing in a hit film. With Dallas out, producers are on the hunt for another actor to fill Fandral’s shoes. Reports say they’re eying, ironically enough, a television actor from a cancelled series. Former “Chuck” star Zachary Levi is rumored to be the frontrunner.

What do you think of Levi replacing Josh Dallas? Are you looking forward to the “Thor” sequel? Are you looking forward to the second season of “Once Upon A Time“? Sound off below.
