It was an eventful box office this weekend, with four new films and some healthy numbers. The Vow, starring Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams took the top spot this weekend with $40.7 million, according to early estimates. The tear jerker is based on the true story of a newlywed couple recovering from an accident that puts the wife in a coma. She wakes up with severe memory loss and can’t remember any of her life with her new husband… so he has to fight to win her heart all over again. I haven’t seen it yet, but I’ll definitely have some tissue handy when I do.

Also opening this weekend was Safe House, starring Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington, bringing in an impressive $39.3 million. The two stars go head to head in this film, as a young CIA agent (Reynolds) is tasked with looking after a fugitive (Washington) in a safe house. Things get crazy when the safe house is attacked, and Reynolds is on the run with his charge.
