It’s Saturday, and what better day of the week to write about The Saturday’s new music video than today. The UK has probably more girl groups per capita than anywhere else in the world. They sure do love their girl groups, which works great me because I’m a glutton for fluffy girl power pop. The group comprises of Una Healy, Mollie King, Frankie Sanford, Vanessa White and Rochelle Wiseman.
“Higher” is the second single from their mini-album, “Headlines!”. It was co-written by one of the girls, Una. Prior to its release to radio, Flo Rida provided his lyrical genius on the track. Many critics have cited “Higher” as the strongest track from their album. I couldn’t agree more. It’s catchy, infectious and has a great beat. It’s currently on heavy rotation on my iTunes library.
Director Taylor Cohen perfectly captured the easy breeziness of the song and made an equally light fun video. The girls are seen frolicking and dancing on the streets of what looks to be a New York City set. My favorite part of the video is when the girls cross the street strutting to simple choreography. I’m know, I’m lame, but I absolutely love it. Rochelle (sista), Mollie (blondie) and Vanessa (asian) are the standouts in this video. Check out the video below.
