Can honestly say I haven’t watched any of these shows, but clearly people are. CBS has given The Neighborhood, Magnum P.I. and FBI early Season 2 renewals. Not a real surprise since all three freshman series have been solid performers for the eye network.
“Each of these distinctive shows has made their mark in a variety of ways,” said Kelly Kahl, President of CBS Entertainment. “Our goals this season were to introduce new series that audiences are passionate about, add more strength to a winning schedule and create more inclusive programming.”
The Neighborhood stars Cedric The Entertainer, Max Greenfield, Beth Behrs and Tichina Arnold. It’s been averaging 6.4 million and a 1.1 demo. It ranks as No. 5 among CBS sitcoms.
FBI comes from Law & Order maestro Dick Wolf and features Missy Peregrym, Jeremy Sisto and Sela Ward. It’s CBS’ biggest freshman hit, averaging 9.3 million viewers and a 1.1 demo rating.
Lastly, the Magnum P.I. reboot, finds Jay Hernandez stepping into Tom Selleck’s shoes. Its average of 5.9 million viewers and 0.9 demo places it at No. 10 among CBS’ 14 dramas.
These renewals leave the comedy Happy Together, Murphy Brown revival and God Friended Me as the only fall freshmen series not to know their fate. Speaking of fate, God Friended Me, I actually do watch and quite enjoy. It’s perfect Sunday viewing after a hectic weekend.
