Tom Cruise steps in to replace Brendan Fraser in The Mummy reboot. The film is part of Universal Pictures’ plans to develop a new Monsters franchise based on The Wolfman, The Invisible Man, The Bride of Frankenstein, and Van Helsing.
From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy reboot brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.
Cruise is joined by a cast including Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance and Russell Crowe. From the looks of it, Crowe is the one who awakens the ancient princess from her tomb. After years trapped in her crypt, she’s ready to wreak havoc and take back the destiny that was unjustly taken from her. Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service plays the princess.
The Mummy unwraps in theaters on June 9, 2017. Check out the intense new trailer below.
