The Masked Singer delivered 9.4 million total viewers and a 3.0 rating. It marks the highest rated unscripted premiere in seven years since Fox’s The X Factor debuted to a 4.4. It’s the network’s biggest launch since Empire opened with a 3.8. demo.
The singing competition is based on a popular South Korean show. The US version features Nick Cannon as host and Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong and Nicole Sherzinger as judges. A total of 12 celebs, which includes Emmy, Grammy and Tony winners along with elite athletes, compete over ten episodes. When a competitor is eliminated each week, their true identity is revealed. Last night, NFL player Antonio Brown was revealed to be the Hippo.
Spoiler alert. I watched last night’s episode and only had one legitimate guess that I’m pretty sure of. I’m certain the Peacock is Donny Osmond. Did you sample the show? Any guesses on who the disguised competitors are? Sound off below.
