Beyonce Officially Joins ‘The Lion King’ Live-Action Remake

Earlier this year, rumors swirled that Beyoncé was joining the live-action remake of The Lion King. It’s now official. The 36-year-old superstar is playing Nala in the Jon Favreau-directed film.

Beyoncé joins previously announced cast members Donald Glover as Simba, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Alfre Woodard as Sarabi, John Oliver as Zazu, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon. James Earl Jones who voiced Mufasa in the 1994 animated classic is reprising his role. Disney tweeted a full list of the principal cast. Check it out below.

The Lion King Live-Action Cast

Favreau previously helmed the remake of The Jungle Book. Like that film, his new one will use pioneering filmmaking techniques to bring the beloved characters and the majestic African Savanna to life in a whole new way. Songs from the animated original will also be featured in the film.
