Looking for interesting, attractive, colorful Asian-Americans to cast in a reality show similar to ‘Jersey Shore’…We need attractive Asian-Americans with lively, strong and unique personalities between the ages of 18 to 30 with equally interesting life stories and perspectives to share, especially individuals who know about and/or experienced the Koreatown life. If you are not Asian but are obsessed with Asian culture or people in some way, email us and please explain.
That’s what the casting folks posted on Craiglist in hopes of finding the Asian Snooki and Situation. R&B singer Tyrese along with his production company HQ Pictures is producing a reality show that features attractive and colorful Asian Americans similar to that of Jersey Shore, The Hills and The Real World, but set in the backdrop of LA’s Koreatown.
The cast of K-Town were seen at several spots (BCD, Bohemians, and BoBo’s) in Los Angeles’ famed Korean district. The cast and crew were there filming the pilot episode. From left to right in the picture above are Young Lee, Jennifer Field, Joe Cha, Scarlet Chan, Violet Kim, Peter Le, Steve Kim, and Jasmine Chang.
Peter Le is already the one being singled out due to his muscular physique. While the real “Situation” was an exotic dancer, the Korean version ups Mike one notch, since he’s apparently a pornstar and exhibitionist. You can see his junk and his trunk on his personal website.

Peter Le (link not NSFW) is a fitness trainer SLASH nude model. “My goal in modeling is to represent the Asian-American male icon. I bring a unique look and carry myself well. I can turn a three hour photo shoot into two hours with the experience I have.” With fun quips like this found on his profile on ModelMayhem.com, I’m sure he’s as humble as humble pie… NOT.

Nothing says Asian more than family style eating. This chick looks like the most fun. I say she’s the Snooki of the bunch.

Ooooh, girlfight. I’ve seen my share of Asian girlfights in my time, and let me tell you, those hookers hold nothing back. These two look like they’re bout to go to town.

Meanwhile, the Pauly D, Vinny and Ronnie of the cast fight for the Sammi “Sweetheart” of the ladies. PS. Doesn’t Peter Le, look more interested in the guy showing his abs instead of the hot girl by his side. Hmmm, I smell a switch hitter.

Taken out of context, I’m sure Mariska Hargitay and the SVU crew would object to this.
No word on whether this show will actually air. After editing the pilot, Tyrese and his crew will be shopping the footage and see if any networks bite. Based on the still pictures found on KTown’s Twitter site, I have to admit I’m intrigued. With the Situ”Asian” on board, I’ll give the show a couple of watches before I make a final verdict. Tyrese wants to show Asian-Americans in a different light never shown before on television. Hmm, sounds like exploitation… SIGN ME UP.
Got any thoughts? Would you watch an Asian Jersey Shore? Post your thoughts below.

I’m actually excited to see something like this.
“Ni Hao Kai Lan” doesn’t cut it with representations of the Asian American community today.
Plus, if people complain, then that means people are watching!

… If they end up being super trashy, it won’t really matter to me because they’re Korean and not Chinese haha. But if Tyrese really wanted dramatic and borderline trashy asians, he should have just come to Vancouver…
