Two days before it was supposed to make its debut during previews for Man of Steel, the movie trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug has made its way online. Based on initial impression, it looks like it’s going to be better than the first film. Granted, I like Evangeline Lilly (Lost) and glad she’s part of the franchise. She looks fantastic in the preview. It also doesn’t hurt that Orlando Bloom reprises his role of Legolas in the sequel.
The storyline continues the events of An Unexpected Journey, in which the hobbit Bilbo Baggins travels with the Wizard Gandalf, the dwarf Thorin Oakenshield, and his company into the Kingdom of Erebor, taking them through Mirkwood, Esgaroth, and Dale to eventually the epic combat with the dragon Smaug. Benedict Cumberbatch (Star Trek Into Darkness) voices the titular dragon. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug hits theaters on December 13, 2013. Check out the brand spanking new trailer below.
