In 2018, FOX gets back in the talent search game with a new reality singing competition to rival ABC’s American Idol revival and NBC’s The Voice. The network just announced the four judges who’ve been given the task to find the next Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood. Three of the four names you’ll definitely recognize. Not so much regarding the fourth.
Sean “Diddy” Combs, Meghan Trainor and DJ Khaled will sit alongside music executive Charlie Walk. This isn’t the first time Combs has been responsible for molding new talent. He served in a similar capacity on Making the Band 2 which created Danity Kane.
The six-episode event series skips the traditional audition rounds and begins with four finalists handpicked by the judges. Each week, new competitors are introduced who will attempt to dethrone one of the finalists. The show is based on an Israeli singing show. Apparently, the FOX version will have an emphasis on hip-hop which makes the selection of DJ Khaled more relevant.
“This show is going to disrupt the world of competition television and will revolutionize the format,” Combs said in a statement. “It took the right show and network to bring me back in the game. We plan on being the best talent show out there, taking it to that next level and making history again.”
Reportedly, the winner will go on tour with Trainor. The Four: Battle For Stardom premieres January 4 on FOX. Will you be tuning in? Weigh in below.
