Universal Studios just unleashed the official trailer for The Fate of the Furious, formerly known as Fast 8. Fans now get their first look at what the series is going to look like post-Paul Walker. It’s a family no more, as the tagline suggests. Vin Diesel’s character Dominic Toretto turns his back on his crew.
Now that Dom and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) are on their honeymoon and Brian (Paul Walker) and Mia (Jordana Brewster) have retired from the game—and the rest of the crew has been exonerated—the globetrotting team has found a semblance of a normal life. But when a mysterious woman (Charlize Theron) seduces Dom into the world of crime he can’t seem to escape and a betrayal of those closest to him, they will face trials that will test them as never before
Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson are released from prison to help the gang defeat the new team of Theron and Diesel. Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Kurt Russell, Scott Eastwood and Elsa Pataky round out the cast. Helen Mirren will also appear in a undisclosed role. I can’t wait to see how Dame Helen is involved.
The eighth installment of the popular racing franchise has big shoes to fill. Furious 7 was one of the fastest films to reach $1 billion worldwide in box-office history. It’s also among one of the Top 5 biggest global titles of all time. The Fate of the Furious races into theaters on April 14. Check out the trailer below.
