The CW just revealed the fate for ten of its shows. And it’s all great news. All ten were renewed for the 2018-19 television season. Not too surprising, given the fact the network has to fill more slots since its expanding to six nights.
“As The CW expands to a six-night, Sunday through Friday schedule next season, we are proud to have such a deep bench of great returning series for 2018-19. By picking these ten series up for next season, we have a terrific selection of programming to choose from when we set our fall schedule in May, with more still to come,” CW president Mark Pedowitz said in a statement. “And I’m especially happy that we’ll continue to work with the incredibly talented casts, producers, and writers who create the series our fans are so passionate about.”
Which ten programs received good news? All five of Greg Berlanti’s superhero dramas did. Arrow inches up to Season 7 while The Flash moves up to Season 5. Both Supergirl and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will enter Season 4 while Black Lightning heads into Season 2.
Black Lightning wasn’t the only series to survive its freshman run. Dynasty also received a second season renewal.
Other renewals were Supernatural (Season 14), Riverdale (Season 3), Jane The Virgin (Season 5) and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (Season 4). Speaking of the latter, the show’s creator and star confirmed Season 4 will be its last. “Just turned on my wifi on our flight to Chicago and found out that #CrazyExGirlfriend has been renewed for a final season,” Rachel Bloom tweeted.
News on the fates of Life Sentence, iZombie, The 100 and Valor is expected in May. Any of the renewals surprise you? Weigh in below.
