One of the biggest surprises of last season was arguably The CW’s decision to renew The Carrie Diaries. Even by the network’s relatively low standards, the ratings were anemic at best. While The Sex and the City prequel didn’t catch on with viewers, I found the adorable show surprisingly entertaining and ecstatic that a second season was in store. Adding to my excitement was the fact producers had plans to introduce a young Samantha Jones.
“Through a surprising connection, our young Carrie Bradshaw will meet one of the most important people in her life this season in a role made iconic by Kim Cattrall: Samantha Jones, a ballsy, beautiful and sexy young woman from the panhandle of Florida who has made her way—and already a name for herself—in the rock ‘n’ roll scene of 1980s NYC.” – The Carrie Diaries’ producers
Snagging the coveted role is Lindsey Gort. Not only is she appearing on the show, but she signs on as a series regular. HELL YEAH. I can’t wait for the young Carrie and Samantha to get into lots of trouble.
Hopefully, the show introduces Stanford Blatch as well. On the season finale, it was revealed Bennet’s (Jake Robinson) roommate was Carrie’s future gay BFF. Gort has a few episodic and TV movie credits under her acting belt, and can next been seen in 2 Guns, starring Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg.
Do you think Gort can do the iconic role justice? Are you a fan of The Carrie Diaries? Sound off below.
