Who knew that Perez Hilton, who starting out writing about and more or less bullying celebrities would one day be writing a children’s book with a positive message? Well, kudos to him for now having done just that!

Perez just released his children’s book called, “The Boy With The Pink Hair,” which is a euphemism for “the boy with homosexual tendencies”. It’s the story of a boy who is not afraid to be who he is and how his difference makes a difference. I think this is a great book for kids that may relate to the “cotton candy” haired character. By having a storybook character they can related to, they may get a better understanding of who they are, why they are different, and the strength to love themselves and others. Also, can you imagine how much easier coming out would be down the road if you read a book like this with your parents and knew they’d still love you either way?

Here’s the books synopsis:

“He was born that way. The Boy with Pink Hair. He had a cotton candy colored mop that no one had ever seen before . . . Life is not easy being pink. Adults stare at you, little children giggle behind your back and some kids are just mean. But when you have a best friend who appreciates your uniqueness and parents who are loving and supportive, you can do just about anything.”

The illustrations are by Jen Hill and the brightly colored pages & characters are meant to really engage the kids. Right now it’s only $11.99 for the hard cover book on Amazon. Check it out here.
