After the 7th Pit Stop in the race around the world, 5 Teams remain after The Poker Girls get a bad hand, fold, and get eliminated from the race. The remaining teams include:
The Gay Bros: Dan & Sam
The Globetrotters: Herbert & Nathaniel
The Lovebirds: Meghan & Cheyne
The Dad & Son: Gary & Matt
The Jungle Fevers: Brian and Ericka
The Gay Bros are the 1st to depart to Stockholm, Swedan by plane, then train and finally by ferry to an amusement park, where they will find their next clue. The Lovebirds 2nd to depart, The Globetrotters are 3rd, The Dad & Son 4th, and The Jungle Fevers will be leaving last.
The flights to Stockholm are at 6:55am and 9:25am the next morning. But the airport seems to be deserted and its late in the evening and none of the ticketing counters are open. This is the part of this game that I would hate if I was playing. I can’t deal with the uncertainty of flights etc. Like how could you sleep? The next morning, the first three teams get the first flight, but the last two teams to arrive (The Jungle Fevers and The Dad & Son) have to take the later flight at 9:25am.
Next up is the train, and The Gay Bros and The Love Birds make it onto the first train, with The Globetrotters catching a second train a bit later.
As the first two teams arrive to the amusement park, they find the clue which tells them they must go on the Frit Fall, this tall tower ride that takes you up about 22 stories, keeps you up their for 15 seconds, then drops you. Once at the top, the teams have to spot an arrow in the park to find their next clue. The Gay Bros and The Love Birds work together and find it right away. The clue they find directs them to a gnome hat ring toss where one a gnome will have the clue to where they are off to next. The teams must drive to the site of the next challenge.
It’s the Detour. In Sweden, Alfred Nobel is famous for inventing the dynamite and Sweden is also famous for the vikings. One option is Nobel Dynamite where they must prepare sandbags to make protective bunker, before they set off an explosion to reveal a metal box with their next clue. The other option is the Viking Alphabet where they must used the ancient viking alphabet to decipher to find next clue. No one picks the second option.
Meanwhile, The Dan & Son & The Jungle Fevers head to the train, but while The Dad & Son wait for their tickets to come out of the machine, the train doors close and the train takes off, taking The Jungle Fevers away with it. The Dad & Son will now be significantly behind the rest of the teams. Not looking good.
The Jungle Fevers gain some ground and are now on the way to the dynamite (after the amusement park), with the The Dad & Son catching up a while after, choosing to do the same.
The Globetrotters catch up to The Lovebirds and The Gay Bros. Cheyne says, “Did your fans help you get here?” There is a bit of resentment towards this team for their notoriety and luck they seem to have had so far.
The Globetrotters & The Gay Bros work more efficiently at filling the bags that Meghan & Cheyne, and Meghan is totally losing her cool. The Gay Bros are the first to set off their dynamite. They find a metal box with their next clue. They must head to Bogs Gard Farm where they’ll be faced with the most difficult/ well known challenges in The Amazing Race history (Needle in a Haystack), unraveling the hay bales to find one with a flag in it. Last time, one team spent 10 hours and couldn’t find anything, then they were eliminated. The Globetrotters blow up their dynamite next, with The Lovebirds completing the task shortly after. “You just didn’t even listen to me the whole time,” says Meghan to Cheyne as they are driving away. She says they had awful teamwork and was very frustrated with that. Man is she high strung. Meanwhile, Cheyne’s successfully keeps his cool.
The Dad & Son are still driving around trying to find the challenge and keep getting lost. Not doing so well with the map. Finally, they ask for directions, and get back on track. Meanwhile, The Jungle Fevers start on filling the dirt bags with Ericka complaining about getting dirt in her nails.
The Gay Bros are first to arrive to the Roadblock at the farm. It’s pouring rain! This is gonna be even tougher.
Sam is doing the unraveling, while The Lovebirds arrive, and Meghan reluctantly agrees to do it for their team. Sam and Dan are yelling at each other and not getting along. “You’re not helping at all, just shut up!” says Sam to his brother. Next, The Globetrotters arrive and start getting to work, with Big Easy taking on the challenge for their team.
The Jungle Fevers are working on their last row of sandbagging, while The Dad and Son arrive and get to work. They’ve made up for some lost time.
“This is the worst thing I’ve ever done in my entire life,” says Meghan. She’s totally exhausted and emotionally drained. Big Easy is the first to get a flag and they are team number 1. Coincidentally, it’s Flight Time’s Birthday and as the first team to arrive they win a trip as well.
Now, The Jungle Fevers arrive and Brian chooses to do it, while The Dad & Son arrive and Gary decides to do it in place of his son.
Meghan breaks down in tears after two hours of doing it, saying she can’t do it anymore. Cheyne totally should have done that, considering it’s quite physical and he does a better job at keeping his cool that she does. Totally saw this happening when she decided to do it. Anyway, she continues on.
Meghan gets one finally, and they become the second team to the pit stop. Omg, then Brian is the next to get one and The Jungle Fevers are the third to the pit stop. Shortly after, Sam gets one! So happy – I want this team to win! The are team number 4. As they arrive at the pit stop, Dan starts crying about how he was being such a jerk to Sam and yelling at him the whole time.
After 2 hours and 45 minutes, Gary finally gets one. They are the last team to arrive, but it is a non elimination lag. At some point in the future, The Dad & Son will face a Speedbump, which will be a task that only they have to complete. A small price to pay for getting to stay in the race.
Go Team Gay!
