‘Thank U, Next’ Returns To No. 1 Thanks To Record-Breaking Streaming Week

Given her “Thank U, Next” video’s record-breaking first 24 hours, it was all but certain the track would return to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. However, I didn’t expect Ariana Grande would set another record in the process.

After a week away, “Thank U, Next” reclaims the top spot for a fourth week total. It surges to the top thanks to 93.8 million US streams. That number is the biggest weekly total ever by a female artist. The previous record holder was Taylor Swift who achieved 84.5 million streams when “Look What You Made Me Do” topped the charts during its first week back in September 2017.

Thank U, Next” is the first No. 1 by a female to reign for four weeks since Sia’s “Cheap Thrills” featuring Sean Paul in September 2016. Not including a track with accompanying artists, the track is the longest-leading Hot 100 No. 1 by a woman since Adele’s “Hello” which held for 10 weeks back in November 2015.
