Taylor Swift Says Tina Fey & Amy Poehler Are Going To Hell

If you read my post about the gay couple being asked to leave a shopping mall due to PDA, you know I referred to that incident as one of the most ridiculous things I’ve read recently. Correction. This insane comment by Taylor is now officially the most absurd thing I’ve read.

At this year’s Golden Globes, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler teased Taylor Swift to stay away from Michael J. Fox’s son. Apparently, T. Swizzle can’t take a joke. The 23-year-old singer revealed to Vanity Fair that the slam at her was an act against feminism. LOL.

“You know, Katie Couric is one of my favorite people, because she said to me she had heard a quote that she loved, that said, ‘There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women,’” – Taylor Swift

Totally cuckoo right? I’m sure this situation isn’t one where Couric would think the quote is applicable. Out of all the jokes delivered by Fey and Poehler that night, the one directed at Swift was the least offensive.

So, let me get this straight. It’s okay for her to write songs thinly-disguised as tell-alls about her various liaisons, but it’s not right for others to call her out on it. Someone needs to take themselves less seriously. Swift also goes on to say that the fact that she’s so open in her lyrics should be celebrated, not ridiculed.

“For a female to write about her feelings, and then be portrayed as some clingy, insane, desperate girlfriend in need of making you marry her and have kids with her,” she says, “I think that’s taking something that potentially should be celebrated — a woman writing about her feelings in a confessional way — that’s taking it and turning it and twisting it into something that is frankly a little sexist.” – Taylor Swift

As you would expect, both Tina Fey and Amy Poehler handled the criticism with grace and humor.

“If anyone was going to get mad I thought it would be James Cameron. I did not see that one coming. It was a joke, it was meant to be lighthearted.” – Tina Fey

“Aw, I feel bad if she was upset. I am a feminist, and she is a young and talented girl. That being said, I do agree I am going to hell. But for other reasons. Mostly boring tax stuff.” – Amy Poehler

What do you think of this whole brouhaha? Do you think Taylor is in the right to be offended? Personally, I think it’s hilarious that everyone calls Miley Cyrus a slut, yet she’s been with the same guy for years. Meanwhile, Taylor is with someone new practically every time I read a magazine. It’s about time, someone called her out on it. Don’t you agree? Sound off below.

If people who have dated or allegedly dated Tay Tay had to go to hell, it would be full in 22 years.

  • voltz

Haha. Your comment about Miley Cyrus being a slut and having a stable, even better, relationship with same guy for over the years is bang on! i always though T.Swift changes boyfriend every month, she even wallows about this on Ellen’s show.

  • This just in, Taylor’s next single has been rumoured to be titled “Bitch isn’t even that funny!”. Stay tuned for more coverage!

  • rogelio

This girl is completely delusional. She always turns herself into the victim, poor girl. Everyone picks on her, all the time. Kanye almost raped her, the tons of men she has dated were all assholes and mean to her, this women were so hard on her, etc. Tina Fey is just like Regina George, she victimized Taylor.

  • justin

you know what the fuck is wrong with people. i love tina and amy but they directly called out taylor in front of her about not dating someone. taylor swift has never publicly named anybody in her song, that is the big difference. she never said we are never ever ever getting back together JAKE thats not the lyric now. the only people that keep trying to figure out who is taylor talking about is the media. taylor swift is just going out and dating guys. hey if a good song comes from a bad experience more power to her. i wish people would understand that comments and treatment of taylor swift is exactly what sexism is. women today are treated less than men because if a man was doing what taylor did nobody would be saying this shit. people need to actually get the situation assessed properly instead of making these false equivalences.
what taylor said is not delusional, maybe extreme but it is true those kind of comments are not helping women.

  • Adam

Learn to take a joke. Also, Tina and Amy were WAY nicer than I would have been in my reply haha.

  • argie

swift is just getting worst, so poor

  • Steven

Taylor is going on a downward spiral and people are really starting to not like her. She should stop while she’s ahead.

  • Mark

Watching her in the audience at the grammys I sincerely thought she seemed to have a screw loose.

  • julius

I mean come on this chick is worst then liz taylor and we all know how that ended up Taylor swift could be the Erica Kane of Music she had dated every one and doesn’t seem to think it strange people make fun or jest of that…. dumb blonde

  • JMC

In the past 12 months she’s done a pretty comprehensive job destroying her image. She’s gone from victim to predator and sweet to bitter. Stay away from men for 12 months, when you release your next record don’t sing about men at all.

  • Jek

@ Justin: I’m guessing you like Taylor? and were we watching the same show? They called out a lot of people and what they said about James Cameron was FAR worse (still funny) than everything else.

  • lgb

Taylor, every song you’ve ever written that anyone listened to was either about a boyfriend who was perfect, or about how that boyfriend turned out to be satan. You’re going to be mocked for it, you’re a celebrity who has dated more men than Liz Taylor. Let it go

  • Andrew

Not a fan and prolly never will be a fan of TS!
