Tamar Braxton surprised many people (including myself) when her latest single “Love and War” hit No. 1 on the iTunes chart late last year. I didn’t realize there were so many fans of Toni’s little sister out there, and here on Homorazzi.com to boot. No doubt Lady Gaga’s tweet promoting it helped move several downloads. Since that post proved so popular, I thought I’d share the music video which was released recently. “Love and War” is Tamar’s first return to music since the release of her debut album, Tamar, back in 2000. Her upcoming album is tentatively scheduled to drop on February 12, 2013.

“K I NEVER PROMOTE ARTISTS but if u want your mind blown check @tamarbraxtonher “Love & War” She’s Toni Braxton sister + her voice is BEYOND,” – Lady Gaga

Tamar enlisted celebrity and fashion photographer Walid Azami to direct the clip. Azami has previously worked with the likes of Madonna, Ciara, Usher, Nicki Minaj and many more. Given his fashion background, it’s no surprise the video looks like a motion editorial you’d see from any of the top fashion mags.

Shot in black and white, Azami allows multiple opportunities to have Tamar get in her glamor shots. It’s a pretty video and reminds me of those classic Herb Ritts-directed visuals he did for Janet Jackson (“Love Will Never Do (Without You)”), Madonna (“Cherish”) and Chris Isaak (“Wicked Game”). Overall, it’s a great accompanying piece to such a beautiful R&B ballad. Check it out below.

What do you think of the video? Personally, I dig it and the song as well. Hopefully, with this track’s relative success and Justin Timberlake’s new single, this means that R&B is making a comeback. Fingers crossed. Sound off below.
