Thank goodness tonight’s episode is once again only 30 minutes long. As I’ve said it before, Canadians know the appropriate length of air time for eliminations shows, versus drawing the inevitable out for longer than it needs.
A Bollywood routine opened the show, beautifully translated by the original Slumdog Millionaire choreographer Longinus Fernandes. It was gorgeous! The costumes were brilliant with the men in all white while the women were clad in gorgeous traditional cultural styling. It was a gorgeous spectacle, danced extremely well by everyone! Good work to the whole group!!
Immediately after introducing the judges (with Mary Murphy as the special guest for the second night in a row), Leah brought the first four couples out to the stage; Natalie and Danny, Melanie Mah and Cody, Amy and Vincent, and Corynne and Anthony.
Natalie and Danny were first to learn their fate, and they were sent straight through to safety. Next on the block were Melanie Mah and Cody, who were also safe (thank goodness)!!! Amy and Vincent, and Corynne and Anthony were pitted against each other to learn their fates; one couple safe, and one in the bottom three. To no surprise, Corynne and Anthony were sent backstage to prepare to dance for their lives, while Amy and Vincent were granted safety for another week.
The last five couples took to the stage to learn their fates; Jenna Lynn and Nicolas, Tara Jean and Everett, Kim and Emanuel, Jamie Rae and Daniel, and Melanie B and Austin. Not surprising two couples out of this group would wind up in the bottom three. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the two groups that I expected…
Jenna Lynn and Nicolas were the first of the couples to learn their fate, and UNBELIEVABLY they were sent backstage to prepare to dance for their lives. I even voted for them THREE times! What happened CTV?! Tara Jean and Everett were next in line, followed by Kim and Emanuel, with both couples being sent to safety. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Another week of watching Emanuel butcher dance?! COME ON CANADA!! Jamie Lynn and Daniel were then pitted against Melanie B and Austin to determine the last couple in danger of leaving the competition. To no surprise, Jamie Rae and Daniel were sent to safety, leaving Austin and Melanie B once again to prove their deserving of staying another week.
The solos were next on the repertoire, and out of the three guys, Nicolas truly showed he wanted to stay in the competition and was the only guy to impress me. Out of the girls, Jenna Lynn BLEW MY MIND. She is so amazing, every other solo failed in comparison!!
The judges were then sent backstage to the isobaric-chamber-of-secrecy, to make their decisions. After the triple gauge locks were undone, the judges re-emerged into the daylight to announce their life-changing choices. Dramatic, huh?!

The final outcome:
Out of the girls, as I predicted, Melanie B was sent packing.
Out of the guys, and not at all what I wanted to see tonight but then again not surprising out of the bottom three, Anthony was sent home.
Here are the top 16…

The only thing “butchered” here are your eyes, Dan. Get glasses.
And Joel, did you ever consider that maybe his partner’s family/friends might be big players in the voting department as well? The votes are for the COUPLE, not just for one of them. They add together. Oh and you also need glasses. And a new brain.
Right on, Braden. Emanuel is a great dancer, or at the very least very unique and cool to watch as a result of his professional figure skating background.

Personally I think Emanuel is not a very good dancer at all. All he does is fancy figure skating moves as jumps. His footwork is very unappealing.
