With an audience of over 100+ million viewers, it’s no surprise movie studios shell out the big bucks to debut new trailers for their upcoming offerings during the Super Bowl. Can’t get a better launching platform that. Given the demographic of most of the people watching the big game, it’s not shocking that there isn’t a romantic comedy in the bunch. That would definitely be money not well spent. Can you imagine a Katherine Heigl rom-com trailer playing to a bunch of inebriated straight guys? I can only imagine the drunken banter.

While watching the game, I caught about eight trailers sandwiched in between all the action. For me, Star Trek Into Darkness, Oz The Great and Powerful and surprisingly The Lone Ranger were the best. With regards to the latter, I had no intention of ever seeing that film. I thought a big budget adaptation was unnecessary and casting Johnny Depp as Tonto was ridiculous. But I had a change of heart after seeing the trailer. It looks pretty bad ass. I was a little surprised I didn’t see a Man of Steel trailer in the mix. That is, unless I missed it.
