There’s no denying Coldplay is fantastic. They’ve delivered some memorable hits over the years, “Viva La Vida,” being my favorite.
When the British group was announced as the headliners for the Super Bowl 50 Half-time Show, there were some who feared they weren’t flashy enough for the annual event. Love them, but the criticism has some merit. It appears, the Chris Martin-lead group is adding a little spice to their highly-anticipated show.
“Chris and his band know they’re not typically as showy as recent performers like Katy Perry and Madonna with all the dancers and, while they love a light show, they still want to bring a few surprises out,” a Super Bowl “insider” told The Daily Mirror. “Beyoncé and Rihanna are both keen to join in the high-profile ceremony and will add just the spark needed to make it an amazing and unforgettable show.”
It’s not far-fetched for both Rihanna or Beyonce to join them on stage. RiRi appeared on their 2011 track “Princess of China,” while Queen B recently collaborated with them on “Hymn For The Weekend” off their latest LP, A Head Full of Dreams.
Do you think Rihanna and Beyonce are good choices to add some flash to the show? Or do you think Coldplay should enlist other surprise cameos? Weigh in below. Super Bowl 50 airs on CBS on February 7, 2016.
