OMG. This so utterly epic, I can’t stand it. Glee producers have cast and signed on a legendary comedic actress to play Sue Sylvester’s mom. It’s so pitch perfect, it puts all other Glee stunt casting to shame, even signing Idina Menzel as Rachel’s mom. So which star of yesteryear will play Sue’s Nazi-hunting mother on Glee’s second season? Let me give you a couple of clues first, before revealing her identity.
She had an hour-long variety show during the 60s and 70s. During it’s run, it scored 23 Emmy Awards and became a pop culture phenomenon. Before each show began, this actress conducted a Q&A session with the audience. The show featured comedy sketches, film parodies and song and dance numbers. One of the most memorable skit included a Gone With The Wind spoof that had this actress fashioning a dress out of drapes and a curtain rod. Still don’t have a clue? All is revealed below.

Ta-dah!!! It’s none other than the hilarious Carol Burnett. The comic legend has kept a relatively low profile in recent years, only appearing in a few roles. Most notably as Bree’s evil stepmother on Desperate Housewives and on Law & Order SVU as Rockette turn strip club owner.
Yes, I do think Glee is going overboard with their guest star stunt casting, but I’ll make an exception in this case, since I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE Ms. Burnett. Not only does she resemble Jane Lynch, but she’ll match complement Sue’s dry sardonic wit perfectly. I 100% guarantee their scenes together will be A-MAZ-ING.
During its first season, Sue mentioned her parents briefly during an episode of Glee. All we know about her mom is that she’s a Nazi hunter. No word if her father will pop up as well. Details of Momma Sue’s storyline and arrival is being kept under wraps, but is expected to air in October or November. Perfect timing for November sweeps.
So what do you think of Carol Burnett appearing as Sue’s mom? Is it genius or is it genius? Comment away below.

SO excited! I do agree though, they need to chill down the guest stars…
