Kylie Minogue surprised her fans when she released the lead single for her 14th studio album Golden out April 6. Girlfriend went all country with “Dancing.” Not traditional country, but more like Dolly Parton meets Scissor Sisters-like country. Based on the second taste off her LP, it’s looking like she’s staying in the genre.
“Stop Me From Falling” is another country-pop-ish offering. The 49-year-old Australian singer premiered it during The Chris Evans Breakfast Show in London. “Should have seen the warning signs, now we’re running out of time,” Kylie sings on the upbeat number. “Kinda want to cross the line, stop me from falling — for you.”
Personally, I love it. The foot-stomping and hand-clapping beat on “Stop Me From Falling” is infectious and puts a smile on my face. Mind you, I also loved “Dancing” while some of her fans felt indifferent. “Dancing” did chart in several markets but didn’t perform as strong as Minogue’s other lead singles. Here’s hoping there’s a track on the new album that is universally loved by all her fans.
