Steve Grand lets it all hang out on the cover of Attitude magazine’s September 2017 issue. For the accompanying interview, the 27-year-old gay singer-songwriter is equally uninhibited. He openly talks about his alcohol abuse struggles and sobriety.
How He Rationalized Getting Drunk
“After a while I was drinking every day because I was able to rationalise it and say, ‘well I’m more creative when I’m drunk’, and most of the time I’m just at home so I would be drinking in the morning. Then, on my shows, I would get destroyed.”
About Passing Out At A Bar
“I got so trashed at this party, I ended up passing out at the bar,” he reveals. “People didn’t know what to do with me. I was told later they had to put my fingerprint on my phone to get access and call someone because everyone else had left and I was out cold.”
About Waking Up In His Own Urine
“I woke up in my own urine in the bed of a person who I don’t even think particularly likes me,” Steve grimaces. “But he was the only person who came up in the recent messages on my phone so was the one they called and he took care of me. That was the last straw for me.”
Grand reveals he’s been sober for 18 months. Congrats. For more revealing photos snapped by Daniel Jaems, head over to Attitude.
